ASEA is a health and wellness MLM or Multi-Level Marketing company that sells a range of skincare and salt-water related products.
The company was founded by a former KRAFT executive called Verdis Norton, in 2009. His goal was to give people a healthier and more fit lifestyle with the help of the products that ASEA would sell.
Many MLM’s struggle to turn a profit, but Norton must be doing something right as the company was able to, from the start.
It’s also a good sign that we couldn’t find anything related to a lawsuit. You’ll be surprised how many MLM companies have numerous lawsuits against them…

ASEA has numerous branches across the globe, which are situated in ten different countries. ASEA is also listed as being one of the 100 best MLM companies in the world.
But, there is still many MLM companies that focus on recruitment, so you may still be wondering…
Is ASEA a Pyramid Scheme
It’s a common question thrown about when discussing an MLM company. Some have been proven to be operating as a pyramid scheme and have had to make major changes, an example would be AdvoCare.
But, No, ASEA isn’t a pyramid scheme.
Their members are able to make money by selling their product and not have a need to recruit… but due to the usual problems that go with choosing that path, a more accurate question would be to ask if ASEA could be a pyramid scheme in disguise…
What’s A Pyramid Scheme?
A pyramid scheme is a company that promises payment for recruiting new members instead of for selling products or services.
They are illegal in most countries around the world, as it’s impossible for every member to make money.

It is true that you don’t need to recruit, but you soon realise that with expensive products and a monthly sales quota to deal with. Your only option of not losing tons of money is to recruit a downline team who can have all of those troubles, so you can make money.
Recruiting members brings with it bonuses and commissions on their sales, and it is the only real way of earning a serious income from an MLM.
Which makes many of these MLMs out there, a potential pyramid scheme in disguise. This 5-minute video will help you spot these “pyramid schemes in disguise”.
With that in mind, let’s check out the success rate at ASEA…
Success is Rare at ASEA
Success is really rare at any MLM, and you’re going to have a hard time making an income with ASEA too…
According to their own income disclosure statement, 88% of ASEA members lose money.
The biggest issue here is that if you try to rely on just selling the products, you have to know there is a monthly sales quota for you to achieve each month. If you don’t hit this threshold, you will have to buy the products yourself.
This means you end up spending a lot of money, even if you’re not selling product. You end up with a garage full of stock and realise how much of your savings you’ve burned through too.
This leads many to trying the recruitment route, but this just puts you in the position of putting others in the unfortunate position of having to meet a sales quota every month.
How Does ASEA Work?
ASEA is an MLM company that sells a range of skincare products and salt-water bottles that you can drink.
They also offer the chance for everyday people to become a member and sell these products to earn commissions.
The premise sounds like a win-win for both parties. But the reality is that the company saves millions of dollars on expensive marketing campaigns. Leaving the hard job of bringing attention to the brand to their members.
There are tons of competing MLMs, that most people have not even heard of… That makes it harder for members to sell these products.
Speaking of products, let’s take a look at their product line…
ASEA Product Line
If you’re serious about joining an MLM to promote products, it’s always a good idea to get to know what the products are. It’s also a good idea to give them a try yourself…
Here’s ASEA’s most popular products:
- ASEA RENU 28 ($50) – a skin gel for your face and body. It claims to improve skin health by getting rid of wrinkles, dark spots, freckles, and increases moisture
- RENU Advanced ($75) – Tones up skin colour, and improves skin cell renewal with the aim of slowing the signs of aging. It also acts as a face cleanser and makeup remover
- ASEA Via ($12) – a nutritional supplement containing whole food-based nutrients. It claims to improve general health wellness and speeds up cellular recovery and regeneration
Whilst these products sound great and all, you should know that there are hundreds, if not thousands of other MLM companies with the same products, or very similar anyway.
Examples of MLMs with similar products include:

All of these companies (and many more) all say that they are special and unique, when in fact they all offer a very similar product.
So, is there anything that makes ASEA unique?
ASEA Redox – Flagship Product
ASEA claims it strengthens your immune system and improves the body’s responses to inflammations. It is also said to modulate hormone production and improves cardiovascular and digestive health. The price of ASEA Redox is $35.

Can You Make Money with ASEA?
Yes, but it’s going to be really difficult!
They will be a few who are earning more than the minimum wage, but to achieve this, they will need to be operating as a full-time sales manager with a downline team all selling these products too.
Even their income disclosure statement shows that hardly anyone is making money with ASEA.
How To Make Money with ASEA?
ASEA is an MLM, and with that brings the usual two ways of being able to make money with their business opportunity. These are:
- Sell their products for retail commissions
- Recruit people into your downline and earn bonuses
To avoid being labelled as a pyramid scheme, please note that you don’t actually earn commissions for the act of recruiting members, but from bonuses you earn based on their own sales. This is merely a technicality though, as a way of avoiding the glare of the FTC.
Getting Started with ASEA
There are four subscription levels you can choose from, when joining ASEA. These are:
- ASEA Advancing Life – $120
- Basic Plus – $240
- Builder – $370
- Express Builder – $720
The first pack comes with 1 case, the second with 2, the third with 4 and and the fourth with 8. Each case comes with four bottles ASEA Redox.
ASEA Monthly Costs
According to their website, you have to pay a subscription of $15.95 per month to gain access to your free website and stay an active member.
But when you go through their compensation plan, you soon realise that members are required to sell a minimum of 100 PV per month (which costs $100+). This means that you have to sell $100 worth of product a month to remain active and be eligible for any commissions you’ve earned. 100 PV is equal to 1 case.
This makes your costs for your first year:
- $120 – $720
- $100 – $200 x 12
Minimum Costs for Year 1 = $1,320 – $3,120
This doesn’t include any of the other expenses that go with running a business, like training, fuel, marketing, etc.

ASEA Compensation Plan
MLM compensation plans are really overcomplicated. The idea is that it makes it look like there are loads of different ways for you to make money with them, and makes you not want to look in too much detail.
We’ll try to keep our explanation as simple as we can…
There are four ways you can earn from ASEA’s compensation plan…
Retail Commissions
You can earn 20% commission on any sales you can make. Although, to make this clear – you buy the products with a 20% wholesale discount and then sell them to your friends and family at retail prices. You keep the difference.
Preferred Customer Bonus
Some customers might choose to buy more than once and to save time, they may put themselves on the autoship program. You can earn $25 on every case that a preferred customer orders.
Recruitment Commissions
You’ll earn $20 for every pack that is bought by a newly recruited member.
Team Commissions
Earn 10% of the total sales volume of your team every month. But in order to earn this, you need to first build a downline leg of 300 PV.
If you’ve already taken a look at their compensation plan, you’ll have seen there are loads of other ways, all revolving around recruitment, but these are the 4 main ways and it is still confusing.
The fact is that there are only really two ways for you to earn an income with ASEA, and they are:
- Sell their products
- Recruit more people

No, ASEA isn’t a scam. The company offers a legit range of health and wellness products. They also pay their members on time, like they say they do.
So, why do many call ASEA a scam then? Well, that is down to many members getting frustrated and disappointed that they are losing money, instead of earning money.
Especially as they didn’t always have all of the facts before they got started either. Many members are struggling, so they don’t always be honest with people they are recruiting into their downline as if they told them the truth, they would run a mile.
That is why people often call MLM’s a scam…

Here’s what we liked about ASEA:
#1 Proven History
ASEA has been a round since 2009, which is a really long time for an MLM. Most MLM’s don’t make it past the 5 year mark, so it is a good sign that ASEA isn’t a scam and that it isn’t going to disappear overnight either.
#2 No Lawsuits
Another good sign for an MLM is that ASEA hasn’t seen any lawsuits come their way. You’ll be surprised at how many other MLMs have had trouble with this type of thing.
#3 Positive Products Reviews
It’s easy for any company to say their product is awesome, so you need to get some perspective and check out what others think about the products… Here’s what we found about their ASEA Redox product…

What We Didn't Like About ASEA
Here’s what we didn’t like about ASEA:
#1 Expensive Products
MLM’s are notorious for their expensive products. They make outrageous claims about the ingredients in them, and says this justifies the price tag.
Companies like these just want a bigger cut of the profit, without adding any additional value. The problem though is that there are much better and cheaper alternatives online, and people know there are.
Would you be willing to pay $35 for a “salt water” drink when you can drink an energy drink that tastes nicer, and is more than half the price cheaper?
If you aren’t willing, who are you hoping is going to buy these ASEA ones from you?
#2 Hidden Monthly Costs
Do you remember the part on our review where we talked about having to achieve a 100 PV per month just to be eligible for commissions?
It doesn’t really make any sense to have a sales quota, in the first place. But it does explain what the companies real goal is… and that brings us back to the pyramid scheme in disguise discussion.
The truth is… ASEA’s biggest customer group is their own members. Their distributors will be endlessly buying these products in the hope they can become their own boss at some point.
The company earn millions in the process, and they end up with members with loads of debt…
#3 Is ASEA A Pyramid Scheme in Disguise?
If you are going to be stuck spending over $100 a month just to stay active, you’ll need to find a way of avoiding that fate… The only way of doing that is by recruiting people to become part of your downline, and we are talking a lot of people.
But the diagram below gives you a good idea of what is really going on here…
This then guarantees that all of those in your downline end up having to spend at least $100 a month to stay active. But this doesn’t sound right at all.
#4 Low Success Rate
When you take a look at their income disclosure statement, it shows that 0.03% of all members are earning more than $147,144 per year.
It also shows that 0.25% of their members are earning more than £30K a year.
But another way to think of it, is that 99% of their members are earning less than that, and 88% of their members are losing money, as it spending more to remain active than they are making with it.
Only 1 in 493 members are earning more than $30K – How hard must you work to be part of that?

My ASEA Review - Final Conclusion
ASEA does have an interesting product line, and have something unique with salt water, athough it doesn’t sound very nice to drink, in my opinion.
But as for their business opportunity, the odds don’t look good. They only people who will prosper here are those that are good at aggressively selling products to people and recruiting a huge downline team. So, you’ll need to be a good sales manager and I just don’t think you’ll earn more than you spend.
Their income disclosure statement speaks for itself, most of their members are losing money and that doesn’t sound like an ethical business to us.
Here’s a better alternative…
