Is Cowboy Wealth a Scam - Company Image

Pros

  • Melaleuca Is a Legit Company

Cons

  • Posting Fake Job Ads (Dishonest)
  • MLM’s Have a Really Low Success Rate
  • Hidden Monthly Expenses
  • Pyramid Scheme in Disguise?

Summary: Cowboy Wealth uses a lot of hype and posts fake jobs ads to get you thinking that you’ll be getting a life-changing opportunity to work from home and earn some decent money too.  But the reality is that Chris & Cathy are using this method to get you to sign up as distributors for the Melaleuca MLM company within their team.

This means they’ll benefit from any sales that you make, and it also means they are hiding quite a few details from you in the first place.  Examples include the costs associated with remaining an active member of Melaleuca.

Main Verdict is that Cowboy Wealth is nothing more than a gateway site designed to sign you up as a distributor for the Melaleuca Network Marketing company.  Oh, and you should also know that the success rate of MLM members is really, really low… Between 72% and 99% end up losing money.

What is Cowboy Wealth?

I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that you don’t know anything about this Cowboy Wealth, and their opportunity.  The fact they are not giving out a lot of details is one of the red flags that has us worried.

Even if you have watched their promotional video, you’ll find they don’t provide you with any detailed information about how their business opportunity actually works.

It doesn’t seem promising when you cannot find any solid information about their history, operations, background, or pretty much anything about what you’ll be doing.

If you believe their hype, you’ll be earning between $500 and $2,500 part time from home.  Or $2,500 to $10,000+ a month.

Now, some will just sign up in the hope that this is the reality, but I know you are looking for some more details before you sign up to what could be a scam.

As far as a video is concerned, this is the only video we could find supposedly describing about Cowboy Wealth (and it doesn’t give you much detail at all…)

That doesn’t really clear it up either, so we continued our research…

So, What Really is Cowboy Wealth About?

Well, once you break through all of the secrecy and hype surrounding Cowboy Wealth, you will find that they are nothing more than a gateway site designed to get you to sign up as a distributor for the Melaleuca Network Marketing or MLM Company.

So, it’s not really a job they are offering.  It’s a business opportunity disguised as a job advert.

To really understand what Cowboy Wealth is all about, you first need to know what Melaleuca is all about…

What is Melaleuca?

Melaleuca is an MLM or Multi-Level Marketing company that works in a very similar way to Amway, or Herbalife.

They offer a huge range of products, and you can make money from either selling their health and wellness products.  Or by building up a team of distributors under you (often called a downline) and earning a percentage commission of their sales.

Melaleuca is a legitimate business, having been found in 1985 by Frank Vandersloot.  Whilst it’s legit, that doesn’t mean that this will automatically be the best option for you.

Add to that, the fact that Chris and Cathy are using deceptive methods to recruit people into their downline is something else.

But the main thing you need to know is that if you want to be successful with Melaleuca, or any other MLM opportunity is that if you want to be successful, you’ll need to be great at face-to-face sales and not mind recruiting your family and friends into it too.

But you should also know that between 72% and 99% of people who join an MLM end up losing money, and Melaleuca’s income disclosure statement backs up the claims that most of their distributors are not earning good money.  You can read all the details in our full Melaleuca review

Who Are Chris & Cathy Sorensen?

Chris & Cathy Sorensen are the founders of Cowboy Wealth.  They make claims that they have over 30 years of experience in the entrepreneur world, but there is very little detail to back this up.

Again, the problem has loads of missing information and that is the same for the owners.

Now…

We know that they are trying to recruit you into an MLM?  They are not giving you a lot of detail… So, you may still be asking yourself if Cowboy Wealth could be a Pyramid Scheme?

Let’s give that some thought now?

Is Cowboy Wealth a Pyramid Scheme?

There are many signs that Cowboy Wealth could actually be a pyramid scheme… and as Pyramid schemes are illegal, that is a worrying thought!

The first sign is that they don’t actually have any products or services on offer.

They say they do, but they also don’t provide any proof or information to say that they do.

They also don’t tell you about the need to recruit in order to earn commissions.

So, it is completely possible that they are operating as a pyramid scheme in disguise…

What is a Pyramid Scheme?

A pyramid scheme is a company that pays members for recruiting other members.  This is the focal point and priority within that company over selling actual or tangible products and services.

Due to this, Pyramid Schemes are illegal within most countries, as it is impossible for all members to make money from a company that relies solely on recruitment.  This image from Wikipedia shows why this happens…

pyramid scheme

The members who are able to make decent money are those who spend a lot of time and effort into recruiting a lot of people to join and be part of the business opportunity.

But if you take another look at that image, you’ll also see that these schemes are clearly unsustainable in the long run as the number of potential members soon runs out.

Here’s a 5-minute video that helps you spot a pyramid scheme in disguise…

Then there is the success rate at Cowboy Wealth… which isn’t going to make the verdict any better…

Success is Rare at Cowboy Wealth...

Let’s be clear, Cowboy Wealth is a front to get you into an MLM called Melaleuca within the downline team under Chris & Cathy Sorensen.  Whilst they may offer you help and training, which sounds like a stretch owing to the fact they are being deceitful in their advertisment.

That aside, it is an MLM opportunity where you’ll be selling or recruiting within it.

And that also means that the success rate is going to be very similar to any other MLM, and that is really low.

Especially, when you take into account that you didn’t know what you were signing up with.

The bottom line is that between 72% and 99% of all MLM members lose money!

The main reason behind this statistic is the fact that these MLM companies impose a sales quota on their reps.  This means that you have to sell a certain amount of product every month to remain active and therefore eligible for commissions.

If you’re unable to achieve this sales quota, you’ll be expected to buy the products yourself.

This is the main reason why so many members lose a large amount of money before they are able to recruit their first member.

This leads many people to venture into recruiting people, as they believe it is the quicker route to make money.  But this inevitably causes it’s own problems…

Haven't Made Your First $1 Yet?

Studies have shown that more than 70% of the people who want to make money online have not made their first dollar yet. So, you’re not alone!

How Does Cowboy Wealth Work?

Cowboy Wealth works by selling health and wellness products, as well as financial security and training courses.  This is where they partner with Melaleuca, which is a health and wellness MLM company.

By signing up, you can become an agent and you can sell these products in exchange for commissions.

It is sold as a winning situation for both sides, as they don’t have to spend much on advertising, as their members will promote the company for them.

Cowboy Wealth Product Line

Cowboy Wealth claims that they train their members to become an expert in online and offline marketing.

They say that this allows them to attract leads and investors on a global level.  They also say that they will help members set up online accounts with the potential customers internationally.

Furthermore, they say that their members are then able to receive residual income from their recruiting downline members who bought their products or services.

Here is where they fail to fill you in properly, as they don’t actually tell you what those products or services are.

They just make claims about how they provide excellent training programs to their members.  They also make a claim that they have so far shelled out $5 billion worth of commissions to members.

But nowhere is there any evidence to back any of this up.

So, Cowboy Wealth doesn’t have any products or services to speak of, but Melaleuca does offer some real products.

Here are some examples…

  • Melaleuca Renew ($35) – a lotion that moisturises dry skin and gets rid of any signs of flaking, redness, itching, and scaling
  • Melaleuca Herbal Shampoo ($36)– A shampoo that features botanical extracts that strengthens the hair and makes it shine more.
  • Melaleuca Mineral Supplement ($25)– A multivitamin supplement that strengthens the immune system and makes you generally healthy.
Cowboy Wealth Review - Melaleuca Product Line

One of the biggest problems MLM distributors have, is the sheer number of competitors out there.  Just in the MLM world, there are many competitors and they are typically a lot more expensive than other retailers who charge a fraction of the price.

Here are some of the most popular and well established MLM companies…

Here’s a 3-minute video that talks to you about financial scams that are very similar to Cowboy Wealth…

But that aside, is it possible to make money with Cowboy Wealth?

Can You Make Money with Cowboy Wealth?

The reality is that it is going to be extremely difficult for you to make money with Cowboy Wealth.

There may be a few who do, but they will earn themselves a very small amount of money.  That also doesn’t guarantee that you’ll actually make enough to cover your costs.

There is no income disclosure statement that proves any of their members do make any money, and the income disclosure statement at Melaleuca shows that only 1.9% of their members are earning more than $2.900 a year!!

How to Make Money with Cowboy Wealth?

Whilst it is really hard to get any details, it can be implied that there are two ways for you to make money with Cowboy Wealth…

  1. Sell the products and services offered by the company
  2. Recruit members into the company

Whilst you won’t be selling products that Cowboy Wealth offers, you will be selling Melaleuca products.

Getting Started with Cowboy Wealth...

Based on the cost of joining Melaleuca, you will pay $19 + tax to become an official member.

This is for the subscription fee that will be recorded on their system.

Sounds rather small, but there are other costs that need to be considered…

Cowboy Wealth Monthly Costs

As a member, you’ll be required to maintain 50 PV (personal volume) per month to remain active.

If you cannot sell that on a monthly basis, you’ll be expected to buy enough products to cover any shortfall.

So, realistically the minimum costs for the first year would be $619!

This doesn’t include any expenses; like marketing, training, travel, and any other expenses that go with running a business.

P.S. This program enabled us to Create a 4-Figure Monthly Passive Income Stream.  It’s Free to get started and costs $49/month to go full-time!

Cowboy Wealth Compensation Plan

Simply put, Cowboy Wealth doesn’t have a compensation plan!

The only description they put onto their system is that they provide a business opportunity where you can earn between $500 and $10,000 a month…

They push you to call a number for more information, or to fill in a form on their website.  Both of which, didn’t provide us with any useful information.

But even if you take into account the compensation plan at Melaleuca, that is so overcomplicated that it is really hard to get any solid details really.

But put it this way…

The majority of the ways to earn money with Melaleuca all revolve around recruitment… and the fact that Cowboy Wealth is being deceitful and has no products or services, it could quite easily be that Cowboy Wealth itself is operating like a pyramid scheme.

Like they are a Pyramid Scheme in Disguise!!

Either way, there is no compensation plan to speak of, when it comes to Cowboy Wealth.  If you want to learn more about Melaleuca’s compensation plan, check out our review.

Here’s a 50minute video that gives you an insight into the companies business opportunity…

Is Cowboy Wealth a Scam?

There is a very high chance that Cowboy Wealth is operating as a scam.

There is no product or service to speak of, they are providing you with very little information to go on.  There is very little information about the owners, and they just rely on hype to sell their “business opportunity”.

Whilst you may already have the opinion they are a scam, the rest of our review helps give you some other useful information about this program to help you get the full picture.

Just to be completely transparent with you, I’m not a distributor of Cowboy Wealth, nor do I endorse Cowboy Wealth in any way.  I have researched the website, testimonials, and information available on the internet to get the details about what this program genuinely does.    I do this, as I have been caught out by a scam in the past, and am trying to help others avoid a similar fate…

What We Liked About Cowboy Wealth

Here’s what we liked about Cowboy Wealth:

#1 Melaleuca Is A Legit Company

The only really positive thing we can think of about Cowboy Wealth is that Melaleuca is a legitimate MLM company.  Melaleuca has over 400+ products that you can sell and earn commissions from.

Melaleuca has been around since 1985 and has a pretty decent track record.  Although as to whether this is the right business opportunity for you, that is down to whether you like face-to-face selling and recruitment.

What We Didn't Like About Cowboy Wealth

Here’s what we didn’t like about Cowboy Wealth:

#1 Posting Fake Job Ads

Their main way of promoting this business is by posting fake job ads with very little detail, other than the opportunity to earn big money to create a bit of hype.

They are hoping to just lure you in on very little information, to then get you to sign up with Melaleuca and then you will realise the uphill battle you’ll have to earn anywhere near what they say you will.

This is what makes it a borderline decision as to whether you consider it a scam or not.  I know they are being dishonest with the way they are marketing this…

#2 No Product or Service

Forget the link to Melaleuca, but Cowboy Wealth has no product or service to speak of.  They claim to sell health and wellness products, but that is Melaleuca and not their company.

There is no evidence that proves any of their claims are true.  None whatsoever!

#3 Hidden Monthly Costs

Amongst the information that they hide from you, is the monthly hidden costs that will soon stack up if you are unable to sell the monthly requirement of 50 personal volume.  That equals $50 a month.

If you’re unable to sell that much, which is completely realistic as you learn how to sell these products to others, will mean that you’ll end up having to buy $50 worth of product (at least) every month.

But when you add to that, the fact that Cowboy Wealth has no compensation plan, no structure or anything else that goes with a legit company to even say they will pay you like they claim too.

Are they trustworthy?  Not from what I can see…

#4 Pyramid Scheme in Disguise?

There are very clear signs that Cowboy Wealth is a pyramid scheme in disguise…

Here is a diagram that shows how their system works…

pyramid-scheme

From what I can make out, they are using this Cowboy Wealth as a gateway to get you to sign up as a Melaleuca representative under them in their downline.  This shows they are heavily focused on recruitment, meaning that you will, in turn, be expected to recruit others.

They may be using a legitimate MLM company as a vehicle, but the truth is that the only way of making decent money ($1,000+ a month), you’ll need to recruit a lot of people.

There is nothing that shows that selling the products will be the focus here…

#5 The Success Rate Is Really Low…

I will say it again, most people lose money from MLM opportunities and if you take a look at the Melaleuca income disclosure statement, there is little to quell your fears either.

The sad truth is that a very small percentage of people are earning good money from their business opportunity, and you can understand why some (like Chris & Cathy) have resorted to dodgy tactics to build up their team as recruitment is the key to good money.

Just a take a look at this from their income disclosure…

Melaleuca income disclosure statement

What this shows is that 90.2% of distributors fall into the Director or Director 2 rank.  This also means that 9 out of 10 people who join Melaleuca makes $2,209 per year at best!!    This means $184 per month!!

Haven't Made Your First $1 Yet?

Studies have shown that more than 70% of the people who want to make money online have not made their first dollar yet. So, you’re not alone!

My Cowboy Wealth Review - Final Conclusion

When you factor in that Cowboy Wealth has no product or service to speak of.  Is offering little or no information about what they are really all about.  Don’t offer a compensation plan or an income disclosure statement.

You would be forgiven that for thinking that Cowboy Wealth is a scam.

I would personally say that Cowboy Wealth is verging on being an outright scam.  The only thing that might keep them out of that camp is the fact they do put you through a legitimate MLM company.

But as they are misleading you to join Melalueca, again that could constitute a scam.

Either way, I would suggest you not put yourself through the pain or stress of trusting Chris & Cathy Sorensen or Cowboy Wealth!!

How We Make Money Online

We are not fans of MLM, the business model is legit, but the success rate is extremely low (only 1%).

We prefer affiliate marketing, the reasons are simple:

  • No need to sell face to face
  • No need to recruit other people into your downline
  • You are not tied down to one MLM company
  • There are endless possibilities
  • Affiliate programs are usually free to join
  • No monthly quotas

We prefer to help people with their purchasing decisions and not push for sales or go face-to-face, we have found a way of making a passive income online and we would like to help you achieve the same thing.

Still want to stick with financial and insurance products, then that is fine you will find that there are tons of affiliate programs out there of products that work and are something people will be interested in.

But finance and insurance stuff is quite boring and technical.  Why not choose something that you are passionate about, why not find out how you could turn a hobby into a money-making business opportunity.

If you want to make money online or from home, without all the MLM stuff, then we highly recommend you read our Wealthy Affiliate review.  Find out how with the right training, you can turn your hobby into a profitable online business.
