Is 30 Day Blog Challenge a Scam - Review

Pros

  • Hype Free
  • Teaches You Blogging The Right Way

Cons

  • You’re Forced Into Bluehost
  • The Training Could Be Better…

Summary: 30 Day Blog Challenge is a training course designed to show you how to start your own blog and then make money from writing about a passion or hobby of yours.  The course is ok, and the content is helpful.

However, they are claiming that this course is free, when that isn’t really the case.  There are conditions set to get 30-days for free, before other costs kick in and those of us that are already blogging, know that 30 days is not enough time to get to a point where you are making money.

It’s ok.  But I don’t think it is the best option for a beginner, for that you need a much better option…

What is 30 Day Blog Challenge?

30 Day Blog Challenge is a “free” training program that aims to teach you how to start your own blog from scratch.  It makes it out that its free, but as we will reveal in our review, it isn’t really free.

The main concept behind the training is to show you all the steps that are required to get your blog up and running, including…

  • How to Register a Domain
  • Setting up Web Hosting
  • Installing WordPress
  • Web Design
  • How to Write Blogs
  • Getting Rankings, Traffic, etc.

The basic idea behind 30 Day Blog Challenge is ok, and I don’t believe it is a scam.  But I wanted to dig deeper to see if it was actually worth it for someone wanting to get started with a blog.

First, let’s look at who is behind the course…

Who's Behind The Course?

The 30 Day Blog Challenge is a course that was designed by a team of people from LeavingWorkBehind.com

The owner is someone called Vin, who has over ten years of experience when it comes to creating books, training courses, websites and the like.

But there is also a lack of real information about the creators of this course, as they don’t share much about themselves.

However, I don’t believe this is them being overly cagey and coming across as a possible scam.  They do share their names and they also appear in front of the cameras.

Scams tend to hide any details, or they hire actors to do the work.

This doesn’t come across in 30 Day Blogging Course.

How Does 30 Day Blog Challenge Work?

The 30 Day Blog Challenge revolves around getting started with building a successful blog in any niche.  The training course is delivered in a step-by-step way where you learn everything you need to know from setting up your blog, to writing the content, getting traffic, and then monetising your blog to earn an income online.

Blogging is where you creating (written) content that ranks high enough in the search engines so that people actually find it and are then able to read it.  Have a good blog where you get plenty of visits, you can then explore options like display ads or affiliate marketing to make money.

The first step, with blogging, is to decide on your niche.  It’s an important decision and needs to be something you love and are really passionate about.  There is very little point choosing a topic that you have no interest in, as you will run out of ideas on what to write about.  Stop creating content, then you will not get any visitors.

To be successful, you are going to need to write hundreds of posts on your website, so picking the right niche is important.

You’ll also need to get a blog website, of which 30 Day Blog Challenge don’t provide you one.  Instead, they introduce you to BlueHost.  But we’ll get into that in a minute…

When you land on their website, you’ll get free access to the first four steps of the 30 Day Blog Challenge course.  These steps are beginner friendly, and will help you set up a WordPress website.

Step 1 – Start Your Blog

The first lesson within the course is all about building a website from scratch.  They talk you through how to choose a niche, and create a list of narrow topics that you could write about.

This is sound advice, and anyone worth their salt will tell you that you need to start with a very narrow niche online.  Starting too broad can kill a blog straightway due to the level of competition online.

But then this is where that “free tag” takes a hit as the course is only free if you go with their suggestion of getting a BlueHost hosted site.

So, if you were hoping to spend no money and see if this is right for you, that isn’t an option.  You need to buy a BlueHost hosting plan.

If you do purchase the BlueHost hosting via their (affiliate) links, you will get free access to the remainder of the 30 Day Blog Challenge course, community, and other elements that we will discuss later on.

(If you want a step-by-step training guide where you also get a free website without handing over any money, check out Wealthy Affiliate 😉 )

Step 2 – Setup Your Blog

The second lesson is where you are shown ho to set up your blog, based on your buying hosting from BlueHost.  It’s a simple process, including how to create a WordPress account, naming your website, choosing a theme, and activating some plugins.

They provide you with a 12-minute walkthrough video where they show you and explain to you what you need to do.

Step 3 – Setup Email Marketing for Your Blog

The team behind 30 Day Blog Challenge put a lot of focus on email marketing further down the road, but they recommend you get started with it rightaway.

Email Marketing relies on collecting emails and building an email list.  It is a powerful and effective method of staying connected with readers and building up trust.  It also allows you to stay in touch and potential garner more sales.

They show you a ten-minute video where they talk thought the following…

  1. Sign up for an email marketing account.  They suggest you sign up with a free trial for Constant Contact
  2. Set up your first list
  3. Set up your subscription form on your blog
  4. Hide the disclosure that shows your address in the form

Step 4 – Design Your Blog

The last step of the setup for the 30 Day Blog Challenge is to go through the design of your blog.  This includes installing, activating and customising your theme (the way your blog looks).

This is pretty simple these days, there is no need to know any coding.  Most of it can be done with a few clicks of your mouse, or drag and drop.

They will teach you ho to…

  • Creating custom menus
  • Use widgets
  • Customise your about page
  • Customise your contact page

That brings you to the end of the setup phase of the 30 Day Blog Challenge.

This naturally leads into actually joining the 30 Day Blog Challenge itself.  Where you will be learning how to write those blog posts, finding relevant keywords, SEO or Search Engine Optimisation for betting rankings, using imagery or videos, etc.

To be able to access the challenge, you need to have your domain name and BlueHost username and email these over to the team.  That way they can set up up for the challenge, give you access to the community, etc.

Included with 30 Day Blog Challenge

If you do sign up with BlueHost through their links in the dashboard, you will get the following…

Haven't Made Your First $1 Yet?

Studies have shown that more than 70% of the people who want to make money online have not made their first dollar yet. So, you’re not alone!

How Much Does 30 Day Blog Challenge Cost?

The 30 Day Blog Challenge is pitched as a free course, that’s what the creators of the course tell you.  But there is a catch like we’ve already mentioned.

The course’s usual price is a one-time fee of $389.

This is waivered if you buy the hosting from BlueHost using their affiliate link from inside the main dashboard.  This grants you a free 30-day access to the entire course.

But after this 30 days, you will find that it will cost you $39 per month if you want to keep access to the community/features.

BlueHost offers a selection of hosting packages, that range fo $3.95 a month to $79.99 a month.

Is 30 Day Blog Challenge a Scam - BlueHost Hosting Plans

But something you should know is, depending on the hosting package you decide on, you could be charge three years in advance.

You’ll also know from earlier, that they recommend you start a free trial with Constant Contact as an Email Autoresponder.  This will also have a monthly subscription, which will increase as your subscriber counts increases too.

Is The 30 Day Blog Challenge A Scam?

No, I don’t believe that the 30 Day Blog Challenge is a scam.  It has an air of misleading you, but it is a legitimate training course.

The 30 Day Blog Challenge will show you how to set up a blog, decide on a niche, learn how to design your website and then how to create content for your website.

I think there are those misleading points, like I said, that may make you think it could be a scam.  For example, they are pushing you towards BlueHost as they will earn affiliate earnings off it, but they are telling you it’s free.

It’s only free, if you sign up with BlueHost.

I think the message could be clearer, but either way this doesn’t make it a scam.

Either way, you will learn all of what they tell you they will.

Having said that, this is not the best blogging course that we have seen or reviewed.  My personal recommendation would be to check out Wealthy Affiliate.  It’s the best training platform for both blogging and earning a good income from it too.

With Wealthy Affiliate, you will get a thorough in-depth blogging course that also includes one free website, hosting, a keyword research tool, and much more.  This also includes access to a huge online community of other bloggers and marketers.  The list goes on.

But the biggest advantage to WA is that you get everything you need to get started for free.  That way you can decide if this is the right move for you, before you decide to invest.

There will always be a point where you need to invest into your business.  But with courses like the 30 Day Blog Challenge, you will need to pay up for BlueHost and Constant Contact to see if this is right for you.  WA, this is free.

Decide if it’s right for you without handing over any money, rather than relying on refund policies that don’t always work out right.  The choice is yours, but here’s a link to our Wealthy Affiliate review, so you can see what you get…

What Do Others Think of The 30 Day Blog Challenge?

There are definitely those that have benefited from the training that the 30 Day Blog Challenge offers.  you’ll find a couple of examples below, that describe how they benefited from the course.

Is the 30 Day Blog Challenge a Scam - Customer Reviews

Whilst it wouldn’t be my personal recommendation, it does show that people are able to create their own blog by following their teachings…

What We Liked About The 30 Day Blog Challenge

Here’s what we liked about the 30 Day Blog Challenge:

#1 Hype Free

This might be a surprise to you, but when you see as many course as we do, it’s nice to find one that teaches you blogging the correct way and doesn’t give you a lot hype and salesy talk that often misleads you into believing it will earn you income easily and quickly.

This program just does what it says on the tin, and with positive reviews to show that it does teach you what they say they do.

#2 Teaches You Blogging The Right Way

The course is indeed legitimate and shows an evergreen method for making money online with blogging.  This isn’t pitched or geared towards teaching you black hat methods that will do more harm than good.  It’s just a good honest training course.

What We Didn't Like About The 30 Day Blog Challenge

Here’s what we didn’t like about the 30 Day Blog Challenge:

#1 You’re Forced Into BlueHost

The main thing I don’t like is that you don’t get any freedom in choosing who you want your website hosting to be with.  Don’t get me wrong, BlueHost is a good option out there.  They offer an ok service and are relatively cheap.

However, I have also come across threads online where people are saying that their experience with BlueHost has not been the best, especially from the customer service view.  It might not matter to you when you first start out, but as your website grows, a poor website host will really hamper your efforts.

But the 30 Day Blog Challenge, doesn’t introduce any alternatives to you and you basically need to sign up with BlueHost or pay nearly $400 for the course.

#2 The Training Could Be Better…

The training course is ok, and it does give you a good grounding.  But some of the tutorials are a little disjointed and they would really benefit from adding some video tutorials to help show you some of the methods.

Haven't Made Your First $1 Yet?

Studies have shown that more than 70% of the people who want to make money online have not made their first dollar yet. So, you’re not alone!

My 30 Day Blog Challenge Review

On balance, the 30 Day Blog Challenge is a legitimate training course that will teach you how to create your own blog from scratch, how to create content for it and make money from your blog.

It does seem a decent course, although a little dated and it would definitely benefit from some video tutorials.

If you are interested in starting a blog, you wouldn’t go far wrong with this course.  But I wouldn’t say that this is the best blogging course we have reviewed.

Blogging is awesome, and allows you to really earn an income from something you love.  But if you were to ask me if the 30 Day Blog Challenge was the best option – I would say that you would benefit more from the support and training at Wealthy Affiliate.

How We Make Money Online
