Is SurveySay a Scam? It’s The Same as BigSpot!

Welcome to our SurveySay Review!

Making money via a survey site is a proven way of making money online.  Alright, it won’t be a lot of money, but still survey sites work for some people.  But Is SurveySay a Scam?

First off, it’s great to see that you’re doing your research before buying into any “seemingly good” product.

That is how you avoid scams and find only legitimate ways to make money online!

To be completely transparent with you, we’re not associated with SurveySay in any form.  We’re not here to pitch or sell you anything.

Instead, we want to share with you what this survey intermediary is about, and if you check out our BigSpot review, you’ll see they are both identical…

SurveySay Review

Pros

  • Free to Join

Cons

  • Expect Spam
  • Not Listed on BBB
  • Low Income Potential
  • Same as BigSpot

Summary:  SurveySay does not actually host its own surveys but is in fact an intermediary or “middleman” between you and other paid sites.  But there is no need to go through SurveySay to get to these other survey sites.  In fact, this is just a way of the owners of SurveySay earning money from you signing up with these survey sites and gaining the ability to spam your email account with stuff you do not need.  My advice is to stay away…

What is SurveySay?

At first glance, SurveySay looks like your typical survey site platform to make money online from taking part in some surveys.  But there are lots of survey scams out there, and you are right to be sceptical of this one.

That is because, SurveySay is not a legit paid survey portal.  It is just acting as an intermediary or “middleman” between you as a survey taker and the market research company.

The difference between a normal survey site like Swagbucks and SurveySay, is that you get direct access to surveys via Swagbucks.  All SurveySay will do is introduce you to these survey sites and earn money if you choose to sign up with any of the 5-market research companies they show you after signing up.

This is just a funnel site, and you could easily bypass the middleman by going direct to these market research website (we will list them shortly) and then SurveySay won’t receive any commission from introducing you.

You might question why we would suggest that, but the main reason is the fact that they will bombard your email account with stuff you do not need or want by going down this route.

There is also very limited information about who the owner or founder is, it just raises a number of red flags that have us concerned about this platform.

Getting Started with SurveySay

They do not make it difficult to sign up with SurveySay and it is completely FREE to sign up with.  Just go to their website and enter your email address, Date of Birth, Gender and your country.

SurveySay Review

But you will notice that you are not asked to set up a password.  That is because you are not setting up an account.  The best way to describe it is you are signing up to their mailing list, rather than signing up for a survey site.

This gives them the opportunity to keep sending you more information about other survey sites for you to sign up with and for them to receive a commission if you follow these recommendations.

Once you are sign up to their mailing list, you are presented with 5 survey companies to choose from to sign up with.

The five that were presented to me were:

  • Global Test Market
  • I-Say by IPSOS
  • Opinion Outpost
  • My Survey
  • Que Opinas

When we checked out the links, it is pretty obvious these were just affiliate links meaning that if we decided to sign up with any of these sites, the owners of SurveySay would get a commission.

Haven't Made Your First $1 Yet?

Studies have shown that more than 70% of the people who want to make money online have not made their first dollar yet. So, you’re not alone!

How to Make Money with SurveySay?

Well, that is the thing you will not be making money with SurveySay directly.  You can make some money from completing the surveys from the sites that they have shown you.  But you could save yourself a lot of hassle in regard to your emails by just signing up with them directly.

By checking the ones above compared to sites like Swagbucks, they are all very similar but there are other opportunities to make money with Swagbucks, like searching the internet and shopping compared to just surveys.

Making money with online surveys is also not as easy as it sounds too.  There are a couple of factors you need to take into account when it comes to surveys:

  1. The time it takes compared to the return in money.
  2. Whether you are eligible for many surveys
  3. The pay-out threshold

I personally do not abide by survey sites; I don’t agree that for 30 minutes work on a survey that should equate to something like $0.50 or 50p.  A normal part time job in the UK would earn me £8 an hour.

I don’t feel that they are a great way to make money online, I know some of you might enjoy doing them and put some money away for Christmas.  But I would rather put that time and effort into a way of making a full-time income from my laptop like from affiliate marketing.

The other thing you need to take into account with surveys is whether you are eligible for many.  Depending on your demographic, you could start many surveys but after 2 or 3 questions be told you are not eligible and are thrown out and don’t earn anything.

I once started a survey, spend 10 minutes filling in a load of demographic questions and then I was told “Sorry you are not eligible for this survey” and didn’t receive anything.

That was a complete waste of time for me.

The third factor you need to take into account is the commission pay-out figure.  Some of these survey sites will have a reasonably pay-out figure of $10.  Meaning you need to earn $10 before you can cash-out.  That is reasonably.  But there are some out there that have a $100 cash-out figure.  How the heck are you going to earn that from surveys if you keep getting thrown out of them or they are only paying peanuts for a survey.

If completing surveys is your thing, then my recommendation would be either Swagbucks or SurveyJunkie.  Both have reasonable pay-out thresholds and offer decent survey options.

What We Liked About SurveySay

Here is what we liked about SurveySay:

#1 Free to Sign Up

Other than it being free to join their mailing list and be shown their recommendations, there is no other real benefit of joining this platform.

What We Didn't Like About SurveySay

Here is what we didn’t like about SurveySay:

#1 They Have Your Email Address – Expect Spam

By providing your email address to this intermediary, you will never know who will get hold of your email address.  They will keep sending you other survey site suggestions so they can earn money if you sign up.  But they could also sell your email address to make money too.

If you are going to sign up, create a new email address, one that you are not currently using.

#2 Not Listed on BBB

BBB is often a great way of checking out an online business to see how legit they are. But as we write this review, they are not on BBB and there are actually a few people want the website reported to the BBB, following several scam claims made by it’s users.

#3 Low Income Potential

Completing Surveys are never going to lead you to quitting your job or even earning enough to use towards Christmas, etc.

SurveySay has no control over the quality of the surveys you might find in these other market research websites or even guarantee how many surveys you might be able to complete, etc.

If you are still wanting to take part in surveys to earn a little money, then we would rather recommend Swagbucks and SurveyJunkie to you.

Alternatively, if you are more serious about making money online you could learn about how we make money online.

#4 Not WorldWide

You need to take into account that whilst SurveySay might be eligible for anyone around the globe, that does not mean the survey sites that you will be shown will still be available to you.  I have seen that in my research, that some survey sites are not available to me because I live in the UK.  Do your research before doing anything.

#5 Same as BigSpot

As I am writing this review, I noticed something very odd about another Survey site Intermediary called BigSpot.  In fact, it is the exact same premise.  The only difference between their websites is the colour.  See what I mean below:

Is BigSpot a Scam - surveys

Raises my concerns about these two being the same owners, looking for different angles to recruit people to their affiliate offers…

Haven't Made Your First $1 Yet?

Studies have shown that more than 70% of the people who want to make money online have not made their first dollar yet. So, you’re not alone!

My SurveySay Review - Final Conclusion

Considering the fact that this website is only an intermediary, there is no information about who the owners are, and you could sign up with the survey sites without the need of handing your information over to these unknown people.  I would say this is definitely a platform I would recommend you avoid.

Unfortunately some of the sites they are recommending are suspect, as per the complaints we found on sitejabber.

It might not be your typical scam, but it is definitely very suspect.  Especially as it is pretty much identical to BigSay…

The only ones who would benefit from signing up with SurveySay is the owner, because they would be benefitting from their affiliate links.

If you are serious about making money from completing surveys, then Swagbucks and SurveyJunkie are better options… If you are looking for a way to make some more serious money, then our top recommendation is affiliate marketing.

There is no need to have your own products and you do not need to be an expert on a laptop, because we will show you how to get started for FREE and learn everything you need to know.  If you want to learn more, check out our top recommended training platform for affiliate marketing.

  1. Hello John, you have written this review really well. I have not heard of survey say and I’m glad it never came my way. I do not like survey jobs because like you said, they are a complete waste of time. You make money but the money is not worth the amount time spent. From the beginning, I see that the platform surveysay does not have a transparent owner and that’s already a big red flag. Overall, I’m glad I read this

    • Hey Henderson,

thanks for checking out our blog and for writing some comments.  Not being able to learn anything about who is behind the platform is a red flag, it is just a typical sales funnel hoping people just sign up and make them money.

      Definitely not a good product

  2. Hello

Thanks for the comprehensive and eye-opener article. In our effort to find information and take surveys so as to make money online many of us can fall into the traps that internet hides. Your topic helps us not to deal with SurveySay, as the disadvantages you mentioned are so many. Personally, I had gone to this program but ignored it as it seemed to be suspect and you now have confirmed the suspicions.

    Thanks again

  3. Good afternoon John,

Thank you for the information on SurveySay, it is good to be informed about what is happening out there in the wide internet world.

To be honest it is already some time ago that I decided against doing surveys for all the reasons you mention in this post. One is not always accepted, the payment is lousy for the time it takes to complete a survey and quite a few more reasons make this way of earning money one of the worse there is.

Now the company you mention goes even one step further and provides an in-between service one really does not need at all. I really get the impression some people get far too inventive but the sad thing is there still will be some who will fall for this.

    • Hey Taetske,

thanks for checking out our blog and for writing some comments.  The amount of time it takes to fill in some of the surveys is a joke, and often you go through about 20 questions about where you live only to be told you are not able to do the survey and they don’t even reward you for your time.

Some people like to do them to relieve boredom, but if i wanted to relieve boredom i can think of a much better way to make money whilst doing it.

      thanks

      John

  4. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on SurveySay. I agree with you that it deserves a rating of 1 (or less). I am glad you pointed out that the SurveySay links to survey sites are affiliate links for the purposes of them earning a commission as a middleman. My biggest peeve about survey sites are the ones that collect your demographic (personal) data and then tell you are not qualified to do the survey. Plus, you don’t get paid for providing your personal information, which is highly valuable to marketers. I prefer to do focus groups or in-person surveys because the surveyors make it worthwhile. I have been paid as much as $100 for a Saturday morning survey group.

    • Hey Glen,

thanks for checking out our blog and for writing some comments.  It is the fact they are not really open about the fact they are just a middle man and honesty is really important.

Even just your email address is valuable nowadays and I just don’t think giving it out to people like this is worth it.

You are right, there are some good opportunities with in-person surveys if you can get involved in them.  thanks for sharing with us.
