What is Enagic Kangen Water?

Enagic is a Japan-based MLM or Multi-Level Marketing company, founded by Hironari Oshiro in Okinawa, Japan in 1974.  The company sells water filtration machines which help people to drink “healthier water”.

The company adopted the MLM business model in January 2003, when they moved to the US with the name of “Enagic USA”.

Currently, they’re the leading manufacturer of alkaline ionisers and water filtration machines in the world.

Here’s the Basic Concept Behind Enagic…

The mission at Enagic is to “change your life by changing the water you drink”.

They claim that the normal water we drink every day is not that good for our health.  They say that our body needs more alkaline water to neutralise the acidity in our body to aid absorption of essential nutrients into the bloodstream, enhance our metabolism, prevent disease and even slow down the aging process.

Enagic Kangen Water machines are the company’s flagship products.  According to the company, these devices have the ability to filter tap water, as we as turn regular water into either alkaline or acidic with the help of electrolysis.  The result is water that is claimed to be better for the body.

Their machines transform the tap water in our homes into pure, healthy, electrolyte and hydrogen-rich drinking water.

These filtration systems are claimed to raise the body’s pH levels from 8.5 to 9.5 which claims to be a better pH for our body.

The company doesn’t just offer these machines.  They also offer replacement filters, water bottles, electrolysis enhancers, nutritional supplements, device parts, and accessories.

Distributors can also gain access to marketing materials, books, manuals, and DVDs.

The company HQ is in Japan, but they also have offices in US cities, such as Chicago, Honolulu, and Seattle.  Enagic also has considerable presence in Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Romania.  There are many other locations where Enagic is known too.

Enagic Kangen Water Product Line

Kangen means “Return to Origin”.

Enagic offers a range of Ionisation machines with prices ranging from $1,980 to $5,980.  These machines re the Enagic flagship products.  The key thing to note is that the price tag is pretty hefty.

They come with a range of different settings as you can use the higher alkaline settings for cleaning.  If we take an example product,  the image below is the Kangen Leveluk K8, which retails at $4,980:

Leveluk 8 - Is Enargic Kangen Water a Scam

Apart from the K8, they also have quite a number of other versions but they are all pretty expensive:

  • SUNU – $1,280
  • Leveluk JRII – $2,380
  • ANESPA – $2,390
  • Leveluk DX11 – $3,280
  • Leveluk SD501 – $3,980 (Their flagship machine that represents 90% of their global sales)
  • Leveluk SD501 Platinum – $4,280
  • Leveluk SD501U – $4,980
  • Leveluk SUPER 501 – $5,980

Do these machines work and are they worth it?  I’ll discuss that more in detail in the pros and cons section.

Alongside the machines, they offer a number of relating products…

Replacement Filters

Enagic also offers several replacement filters.  The prices for these filters range from $100 to $110.

These filter out the impurities and should be replaced every 6-8 months from when installed.  Affiliates and customers, however should choose the right type of filter as they are not a “one-size-fits-all” type.

Supplies

There are also other water related products. These include special water bottles, electrolysis enhancers, replacement filters, parts, and accessories

Pre-Filtration Systems

The price of these pre-filtration systems range between $30 to $70.  The company also offers a special KDF wrench.

Ukon

Like a proper MLM company, Enagic takes the opportunity to sell their own dietary supplements.  The Ukon product line includes:

  • Ukon Supplements DD
  • Ukon Tea DD
  • Ukon Sigma
  • Ukon Soap

Prices for individual products range between $25 to $90.  Product pack prices range from $760 to $1,980!

Media

Affiliates and customers can also purchase operational manuals, instructional DVD’s, compensation plan videos and also purchase H. Oshiro’s Success Story Book by Enagic.

Marketing Materials

Enagic Affiliates (Associates) can also purchase marketing collaterals from the company.  These are designed to help you present the products to potential customers.

E8PA Cards

Affiliates can purchase these E8PA cards which they can use to get discounts, as well as earn points from purchases.  These cards cost anywhere between $500 to $8,000.

Now, let’s take a look at the business opportunity…

How to Make Money with Enagic?

As Enagic Kangen Water is an MLM company, it offers the usual couple of ways for you to make money with Enagic.  These are:

  1. Sell these Kangen machines and earn retail commissions
  2. Recruit people and build your downline teams to unlock various other bonuses, commissions and incentives.

It might sound simple, but it doesn’t always end up that way.  The second route is often why legit MLM’s get labelled as a Pyramid scheme.  That isn’t necessarily the case, but let’s clarify whether Enagic is a pyramid scheme or not now…

Is Enagic Kangen Water a Pyramid Scheme?

A Pyramid Scheme is where the only way you can earn money is with recruiting new members into the scheme.  It can also be described as a cash-gifting scheme.  As the only way in is by buying a membership that doesn’t give you anything other than the ability to recruit other people in to make money.

That is not how you would describe Enagic.  It is a legitimate MLM company and there is no requirement for you to recruit others for you to make money.  Many MLM’s have better commissions and incentives surrounding recruitment and that is why more people chase recruiting people, more than selling the products and that is where the confusion often is.

This can often cause MLM’s to operate what is referred to as a pyramid scheme in disguise.

The easiest way to spot if an MLM is a potential Pyramid scheme is, have they got products.  Are people interested in the products and then you can typically see that it is a legit MLM or an illegal pyramid scheme.

In our opinion, Enagic is a legitimate MLM company.  But whether we feel it is the right business opportunity for a newbie, that is a completely different conversation…

Haven't Made Your First $1 Yet?

Studies have shown that more than 70% of the people who want to make money online have not made their first dollar yet. So, you’re not alone!

Success is Rare at Enagic

Enagic’s business model is multi-level marketing.  This can be a roadblock for success if you want to become one of its affiliates.  In a company that has an MLM business mode, individuals not only need to sell the products sold by the company, they also need to recruit others to become affiliates as well.

Although Enagic doesn’t incentivise distributors when they recruit others, there is a reward when your team members in their downline hit a certain quota.  That is often the problem.  You need to recruit the right people, most people are not geared up to become a salesperson.  It can be difficult to sell products, especially when the products you will be promoting are so expensive.

To be effective, you need to recruit effective sales people and effective recruiters.  But most of the time, the only people you know are your friends and family.  MLM’s are known for ruining relationships when the real-time earnings are nowhere near as much as the claims made by the comapany.

How to Get Started with Enagic

One of the good things about Enagic is that there is no fee to apply to become one of their distributors.  It is also not compulsory for you to purchase any of their products.

All you will need is to find a sponsor (if you don’t already have one) and complete the distributors application form.

At this point, it sounds like a great business opportunity for a beginner, as you don’t need to spend anything to get started.

However, let me ask you…

How are you going to sell the products or recruit people if you have not tried the machine yourself?

It can be really hard for you to sell the product if you don’t have one, yourself.

Your prospects will be asking you about your experience, the benefits you have seen from using the machine.  How are you going to respond?

So, it’s inevitable for you to fork out a few thousand dollars and own a machine to run the business despite the fact it isn’t technically compulsory.

How much you invest depends on the product you choose.  But with the cheapest product in their range being $1,280.

It is free for you to get started on the surface, but the realistic startup costs is at least a thousand dollars.

There are a few other benefits to Enagic, that you need to know before you get started:

  • No Monthly Qualifications – Unlike most of the MLMs out there, there is no monthly autoship and you don’t have to keep spending money every month to stay active
  • No Stocking of Inventory – There is no need to purchase stocks and keep them at your house which can potentially lead to “dead stocks”
  • No Annual Renewal – There is no signup fee, no monthly recurring fees and no annual renewal fees (this is very different to most MLMs)
  • No Time Limits – You’re not forced to make a certain number of sales within a period of time befoer your account gets cancelled (this happens a lot with other MLMs)

Enagic Compensation Plan

Enagic has a unique compensation plan, which they call “The Basic 8-Point Commission Structure“.

It adopts the unilevel compensation plan and there is a total of 6 different ranks or levels.

In order for you to increase your rank is by making more direct sales.

For example, to reach the highest rank, you have to sell at least 100 Kangen Water machines!

That is a lot of machines, when you consider that 1 household will need only one machine and that same machine can be used for years.

Here is a list of the types of commission you can earn:

  • Direct Sales Commission
  • Override Commission
  • Educational Allowance
  • Monthy Incentive
  • Quarterly Incentive
  • Title Incentive
  • Global Leadership Incentive

Depending on your rank, you may not be qualified for all of these.

What We Liked About Enagic

Here is what we liked about Enagic:

#1 Free to Get Started

It is unique to find an MLM that doesn’t charge a hefty start-up fee.  It is free to get started with Enagic.  This can make it an attractive proposition, but like we said earlier you do need to purchase a machine yourself to understand it well enough to sell on.  This will cost you a minimum of $1,280!

#2 Established Business

Enagic began back in 1974, meaning it has been in business for over 40 years.  It has a huge following around the world.  It only adopted the MLM business model in 2003, and they would have been shut down if they were doing anything untoward or was outed as a pyramid scheme…

This shows them to be a reliable business.

#3 Great Support

Enagic provides an array of training, tools and resources when joining as a distributor.

For example, there are:

  • Prospecting tools
  • Advertising campaign tools
  • Email templates
  • Business Stats
  • Business Training Library
  • Product Education Resources

All of which are supplied for free once you have officially become one of their distributors

On top of that, you will also gain your own mobile App to manage your business on the go.

#4 Various Accreditations & Achievements

Various Accreditations

These are some of the badges that Enagic has earned.

Enagic International is certified to:

  • ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 13485 for Quality Control and Environmental Management
  • Water Quality Association Gold Seal for Product Certification
  • Is a Member in Good Standing of the Direct Selling Association (DSA)

#5 Customers Can Purchase Online or From Enagic Distributors

Enagic doesn’t limit their customers from only buying from distributors, which can be difficult in remote areas.  Buyers have the option of either buying from a direct seller or from their website.

What We Didn't Like About Enagic

Here is what we didn’t like about Enagic:

#1 Controversial Claims About Alkaline Water

There has been a surge in popularity in alkaline water and it’s “alleged” health benefits.  There are advocates who claim that the purified alkaline water aids in regulating pH levels by neutralising acid, as well as preventing certain diseases.

Then there are claims that distributors are making bogus claims just to make a sale.  Many people claim that drinking ionised water  can:

  • Increase energy
  • Reduce weight
  • Reverse aging
  • Boost immunity
  • Control blood pressure
  • Cleanse the colon
  • Eliminate body odour

There are even those that claim it can increase the life expectancy or even cure cancer!

There are benefits to drinking ionised water, but it is definitely not the “magic solution” that these distributors make out.

There are various conditions to figure out and it will not just be down to the drinking of ionised water.

The jury is still out when it comes to alkaline water too.  You will always have a difference of opinion about whether the benefits are because of that or another factor.

There are also those that claims that “alkaline water is nonsense“.

Most health professionals still claim regular and clean drinking water is still the best for the human body…

#2 The Price

You have to look at this from the point of view of you being able to sell the product, in this case the Enagic Kangen Water machines.  They may work wonders and do all they are claimed to do, but they are still an expensive product and you are going to need to be able to market these to make any money with Enagic.

The cheapest product in their range is $1,980 and that is the basic model.  It doesn’t have the features of the more expensive models, so you are going to need to consider this when starting your business.

Do you know anyone who wants to pay $5,000 on a Kangen water machine?

There are two main issues with the products being so expensive:

  1. You have a really expensive startup cost for your business, as you need to invest in one of the machines so you understand how it works and the benefits, etc.
  2. The price will make it a hard sell unless you know exactly who to market these machines too…

The majority of the time, this makes it an extremely difficult uphill battle.  Unfortunately, most of us are unwilling to part with their money when it comes to this kind of “luxury”.  Many people have been drinking ordinary tap water for years and have seen no side effects, so why pay thousands of dollars for a machine where the claims are still “unfounded”.

#3 Recruit, Recruit, Recruit…

This isn’t unique to just the Enagic MLM, but it is a reason why we don’t recommend MLM or Enagic as a business opportunity and that is because they still rely on the traditional recruiting methods.

You’ll be asked to come up with a list of prospects, which are typically your friends, family, co-workers, neighbours, people you know, etc.

Once you have come up with your list, you be told to contact them and try to sell to them the products (which cost thousands of dollars) or the business opportunity for them to recruit even more people.

Can you see the problem?  How many of your friends or family would be in the market to spend thousands of dollars on one of these machines or is well versed enough to recruit others into the business model either?

That is part of the problem, you run out of prospects.  To get to the highest rank you need to make at least 100 sales.  Just targeting 100 people you know isn’t going to achieve those sales, most people are going to reject you and that will typically be down to the price of the product.

Typically, you would probably need to talk to at least 500 people to get close to getting any sales.  Especially if you are not targeting the ideal audience for these Kangen water machines.

The other side of the conversation needs to be how much you value your relationships with your friends and family.  I don’t raise that point lightly, but 65% of people who join an MLM quit due to the awkwardness of selling or recruiting their friends and family relating to an MLM opportunity.

We prefer to use a less direct method of selling, it is called Affiliate Marketing.  There are many reasons why we believe Affiliate Marketing is 100x Better than MLM, but the fact we do not need to rely on selling to friends and family is one of the key reasons why we went that way…

Thanks to Affiliate Marketing & Our #1 Recommended Training platform, we are now earning a 4-Figure Monthly Passive Income.  No cold-calling, no hard selling or recruiting required…

#4 No Repeat Orders

This needs serious thought…

  • One household will only need the one water filtration machine
  • That machine will typically last them 5 years as it has a 5-year warranty
  • How many families actually want or can afford this?

This is very different to consumable items like supplements where people need to keep on buying them to keep taking them.

That is how you generate residual income and passive income due to the constant need for the product.

But there isn’t really a need for a water filtration machine, the need isn’t huge or consistent like personal care products, for example.

There are the water filters that go with the machine, but the customer can just go through the website and that might not go against your affiliate link.

That means, to consistently generate sales, you will always be looking for your next sale.

That means you will require unlimited leads and you will not be able to achieve this with your just your friends and family list.

This leads so many into recruiting others, so that you can sell the machines together and share the commissions.

This is why so many health and wellness companies today are flourishing.  That isn’t to say that individual distributors are, 73% of people who join an MLM lose money.  But the company benefits either way.

In the water filtration market, you will find it really hard to have repeat orders.

So, if you really want to make money I wouldn’t recommend Enagic…

P.S. This program has enabled us to earn a 4-Figure Monthly Passive Income Stream, It is Free to get started and is only $49/month to go full time!

#5 No Discounts for Affiliates

Unlike with other MLM companies, there is no discount for become an affiliate.  Whether you are a distributor or a customer, you will still have to pay retail prices for their water filtration machines.

Haven't Made Your First $1 Yet?

Studies have shown that more than 70% of the people who want to make money online have not made their first dollar yet. So, you’re not alone!

Is Enagic Kangen Water a Scam?

No, it is safe to say that Enagic is not a scam.  the company is legit and that is backed up by them being a member of the Direct Selling Association (DSA).  Although, them having the MLM business model does make it difficult for us to recommend it as a business opportunity…  MLM opportunities are usually:

  • Expensive to Get Started
  • Expecting you to sell or recruit to your friends and family
  • Have to keep finding leads /prospects because repeat orders are usually limited

With Enagic you also have the issues relating to whether people are willing to spend a lot of money on water purifiers when there are issues with dubious claims about water and its pH Level.

The scientific community is still undecided on this matter.  If you currently live in an area with clean and cheap drinking water, then you will find this a hard sell to others in your area…

Basically, you are going to be running an uphill battery.  The commission level from each sale might look appealing, but you need to make the sale first.

How We Make Money Online

We are not a fan of MLM, not because its illegal or not profitable, but because of all the restrictions and the expensive costs involved.

We recommend Affiliate Marketing instead, It is our top recommended business model for anyone looking to make money online.

The reasons are simple…

  • There is no need to recruit anyone to make money
  • You have the freedom to promote any products that you actually want to promote, and not get restricted by one MLM company
  • It’s FREE to get started…

Thanks to Affiliate Marketing & our #1 Recommended Training program, we are now earning a 4-Figure Monthly Passive Income stream…

Through our hard work (and the right training) our dream became a reality…
