Is CryptoTab Browser a Scam? Mine Bitcoin Through Your Browser???

Welcome to our CryptoTab Browser Review!

Can you really mine bitcoin whilst browsing the internet with this unique browser extension?  That is what we wanted to find out.

Most of the ways to mine Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies requires you to install some software to your device and then you leave your device on.  This usually requires a lot of power and gives you a huge electric bill.  Most devices are not actually going to hack it or won’t let you get on with your everyday browsing whilst it is working.

CryptoTab claims to only need you to install an extension to your browser and you can earn money whilst you browse the internet.

This raised a few questions for us, and so we want to share with you what we found out when we did some research into this program.

First off, it is great to see that you are doing your research before buying into a “seemingly good” product.

That is how you avoid online scams and find only legitimate ways to make money online!

To be completely transparent with you, we are associated with CryptoTab Browser in any way.

So, relax, we are not here to pitch or sell you anything.

Instead, we just want to reveal what this program is really about… Can you make money whilst browsing the internet, or is there a catch?

Let’s find out, as we get into the review…

What is CryptoTab Browser?

CryptoTab Browser claims it is the first browser in the world that will let you mine cryptocurrency.  CryptoTab Browser is an extension or plugin that you can install on your existing internet browser and it will start mining Bitcoin for you.

cryptotab-browser-website

Basically, you install this plugin within your browser (chrome) and it uses your internet connection to mine Bitcoin (in theory).  They also claim that you can make it your default browser and it will mine Bitcoin faster…

There is also an opportunity to invite other people to get the app and earn commission.

Who Owns CryptoTab Browser?

This is a red flag, as they do not disclose who owns the program.  All we know is that it was registered in December 2017.

So, we don’t know who is behind it or where it is based.  Not something a legit company would do…

How Does CryptoTab Browser Work?

The CryptoTab Browser works in the same way as cryptojacking does. But let’s break that down so you understand what we mean by that.

Cryptojacking is the way to describe it when you use someone else’s computer or device without their authorisation to mine for cryptocurrency.

The people behind these schemes achieve this by getting innocent people to click on malicious links (often disguised as legitimate ways to make money) and it loads up a cryptomining script or code on your computer, or by infecting the website with a code that auto-executes the mining process.

The only difference between the CryptoTab Browser and this cryptojacking is that they have your permission to do this. You have authorised them to operate it on your computer.  They also claim that it runs safely in the background.

Once you have installed the plugin, it will run in the background as long as you keep your browser window open and the mining mode switched on.

Just to clear, this means they have access to your browser throughout this process, so what is stopping them having access to what you are browsing through too?  Would you trust them when you are doing your online banking?

You can also speed up the mining with their recruitment-based compensation plan.

Haven't Made Your First $1 Yet?

Studies have shown that more than 70% of the people who want to make money online have not made their first dollar yet. So, you’re not alone!

How Much Does Product Cost?

By recruiting more people to accept this plugin onto their browser under your team, you can apparently speed up the mining process, meaning you can earn more money.  You can also earn money based on what they are mining too.

The CryptoTab Browser compensation plan is structured in an MLM or Multi-Level Marketing unilevel structure.

For those who are not familiar with how the unilevel pay plan works out, here is a quick breakdown:

  • 1st Level – The first level of your unilevel compensation plan will only have your personally enrolled members on it.
  • 2nd Level – the second level will only have team members that your level 1 members personal sponsored on it only
  • 3rd Level – the third level will only have team members that your level 2 members personally sponsored on it only.
  • This keeps going on endlessly

As far as CryptoTab Browser is concerned, they have ten levels to their unilevel compensation plan.

Here is a breakdown of what you can earn from each level:

  • Level 1 – this earns you 15% of the commissions earned from members that are on this level
  • Level 2 – this level offers 10% of the commissions earned from members on this level
  • Level 3 – this level offers 5% of the commissions earned from members on this level
  • Level 4 – this level offers 3% of the commissions earned from members on this level
  • Level 5 – This level offers 2% of the commissions earned from members on this level
  • Level 6 – this level offers 1% of the commissions earned from members on this level
  • Level 7 – this level offers 0.5% of the commissions earned from members on this level
  • Level 8 – this level offers 0.25% of the commissions earned from member on this level
  • Level 9 – this level offers 0.125% of the commissions earned from members on this level
  • Level 10 – this level offers 0.0625% of the commissions earn from members on this level

To get higher commissions, you need to recruit more people in the scheme.

Getting Started with CryptoTab Browser

The simple answer would say that it is free to get started with the CryptoTab Browser.  However, that would not strictly be true.  You have to factor in the costs that would be associated with regards your internet.

If you are on a metered data plan, then you will soon churn through your allowance.  This would also require your computer to be awake and with the browser left on to work and that will increase your electricity costs.

This will cost you a lot more than you think.  Then there is the concerns we have about the privacy side too.

What We Liked About CryptoTab Browser

We feel this has too many issues with it to find anything positive to tell you about CryptoTab Browser.  There is a huge emphasis on recruitment, with no real product to offer which seems a little more like a Ponzi Scheme or Pyramid Scheme than a legit offering.  It also allows these unknown owners full access to your computer… That is not a good thing in the slightest.

What We Didn't Like About CryptoTab Browser

Here is what we didn’t like about CryptoTab Browser:

#1 They Gain Access to Your Browser & Computer

Regardless of whether they are legit or not, you are giving them full access to your computer and browser.  Now, that you throw in the fact, that we know nothing about the guys behind it and then you can see the problem we see.

Would you trust them in the background whilst you are doing your online banking? Or any online transaction where you are making payments?

#2 Low Income Potential

The actual income you could bring in with this program really doesn’t stand up to what they are claiming.  You are mining at a rate that is 100x slower than is the standard in that industry.

They then push you to recruit to improve this rate…

#3 Huge Focus on Recruitment – Pyramid Scheme?

There is a massive push on you to recruit other people into the scheme.  They claim this is to increase the speed of your mining, but it seems convenient that this also increases the number of devices the owners gain access to…

bogus-claim-recruitment

They claim you could earn a monthly income of $40K a month.  But you have to recruit 12 million people to be able to get that kind of money.  Don’t let these kinds of bogus claims fool you into believing that is possible.

There is also the fact that as they are operating using an MLM compensation plan but lack any real products this could actually be described as a Pyramid Scheme.

A Pyramid scheme is where the sole focus is on recruitment and not on the selling a product.  I know the product is free, but as it is a way of these owners to access your information, I would describe that as a positive sign.  But because you are only going to be mining such a small amount, this will mean the pressure for you to recruit will be massive.

Know that just installing this app will not make you a lot of money, so you would need to recruit a lot of people to make this worthwhile, so in a way it is like a Pyramid Scheme in disguise.

#4 Google Banned All Crypto Mining Apps

Google banned all crypto mining extensions or apps for its browser, so how did this one avoid the cull?  There is something not quite right with this app…

#5 No Owner Information

A legitimate program would not hide who is behind the app. So, why are they not displaying who they are.  It often means that when it is outed as a scam, they can just move onto the next scam without any worry of you seeing that this owner has been involved in a scam before.

Studies have shown that more than 70% of the people who want to make money online have not made their first dollar yet. So, you’re not alone!

Is CryptoTab a Scam?

In my opinion, I would actually describe this CryptoTab Browser as a scam.

Here is why:

  • They gain full access to your computer and browser, yet they do not disclose who they are
  • Google banned all crypto mining apps from their app store a while ago, so how is this app still working?
  • There is a huge emphasis on recruitment, as the earning potential is so low without it and this could be described as a Pyramid scheme.

Fundamentally, even if we were proven wrong, the earning potential is so low and your costs will be much higher than you would expect due to the expense of your internet connection and electricity costs.

Final Opinion of CryptoTab Browser

When you factor in that you do not know anything about the guys behind this program, the fact that they gain access to your computer and web browser and the earning potential is extremely low and the only way to earn more is to recruit more people in, we believe that this app is possibly a scam and is something that we would definitely NOT recommend.

You also have to factor in that cryptocurrency mining from home hasn’t been profitable for a long time now.  It takes a lot of resources to actually make it worthwhile, purely down to the high electricity costs and the impacts on the devices people use.

You can see that there are devices to buy that will mine it for you, but when you read the electricity costs, I know I thought twice.

How We Make Money Online

Cryptocurrency seems exciting, but there are so many scams involved with it that you have to be extremely careful what you sign up for.  We are still sceptical about the merits of it, especially with Bitcoin becoming increasing scarce.

We chose a different way to make money online, and it is the way we worked towards earning a 4-Figure Monthly Passive Income Stream.

We went with Affiliate Marketing.  By taking something that you love, like a hobby and helping people online, you can earn money online without any recruitment.

If you are serious about making money online, then you definitely need to read up about our top recommended training program that can teach you exactly how to make money online with Affiliate Marketing, without any dodgy app getting access to your personal data.

  1. Oh no this looks terrible, I would not be comfortable giving anyone access to my browser since I work online! All my tools, websites, online banking and more would be at risk. This is so scary… and then it is also an MLM – one of my pet hates in this world. Another thing is that I don’t trust crytocurrency at all.

    • Hi Lynne,

thanks for checking out our review.  Cryptocurrency done right, might be ok for those who are interested.  But anything accesses your browser is not your friend.  The problem is that people are letting them doing it, without question if they do this…

Not a great way of making money or even keeping your data safe!!

  2. Well! I was suspicious of this right from the start and I am really delighted that I was yet to register before I took the decision to check things out myself here. This is really a great post and one that I will never want to give a trial too. Thanks so much for sharing this here

  3. Hi John,

I read a review in which they were recommending CryptoTab as a good option to get started with Crypto. I’m glad I continued researching after reading that post. Your article seems more accurate and I completely relate to giving access to strangers to our PC is a huge NO-NO.

    • Hi Henry,

there will always be someone who will be promoting these scams as they are going to benefit from the sale.  We see plenty of programs where we feel there have very little chance of helping a newbie make money and yet there will be reviews out there giving it a 5 out of 5 with no concerns about the program at all.

But when you dissect it, it is a low quality program where these reviewers will earn money from your sale when they know it isn’t going to help you, but the fact is that they do not care about that.  As long as they are making money, they don’t care that you will fail with them.

Reviewing any program needs thorough research, especially when it involves either your credit card details or even your personal details.

But giving access to your browser to a program like this is definitely not a great move.

      All the best

      John
