Is the Wealthy Affiliate a Scam or Not? Bogus Training Platform???

I am going to guess that you have found tons of positive stuff written about Wealthy Affiliate, but there is still something inside your head asking the question – Is the Wealthy Affiliate a Scam or not?

There are tons of scams out there, from bogus training platforms all the way to get-rich-quick schemes and they all lead to the same thing… No Money, or even worse losing a ton of money!!

There are definitely signs that you can look out for, when it comes to spotting a scam and as we go through them and then show you exactly what Wealthy Affiliate is, you will soon notice that the two do not describe each other.  You will soon come to realise that Wealthy Affiliate is not a bogus training platform, the Wealthy Affiliate is not a scam.  It is the most supportive training platform that you could ever hope for, if you are willing to put the effort into achieving your goals of earning passive income online!!

Before we get into any more details, let me be completely honest with you.  I have been a fully paying member of Wealthy Affiliate since 2016.  I have not yet made my fortune, I have still got a long way to go before I can give up my day job, but that is in no way the fault of Wealthy Affiliate.  That is down to how much time I can dedicate to my online business with a full-time job and family commitments.

There are a few reasons why people are going around and stating that Wealthy Affiliate is a scam, but again that is because of their experience and not through a fault with the training platform that Kyle & Carson (the WA owners) have out together for you.

I am going to describe to you some hints and tips about how you can spot online scams, but also why it is your expectations and work ethic that will lead you to success or not.

I will also show you some awesome success stories from within Wealthy Affiliate and again that has come from the Wealthy Affiliate training plus the members hard work.

Let’s get started with how to spot these online scams.

What is a Scam Anyway?

What is a scam - police man catching a scammerUnfortunately, there will also be someone who is willing to take advantage of you to get your money.  Even as we speak there are people suffering because of the Coronavirus pandemic and there are scammers knocking on people’s door to take advantage of them to benefit themselves.  It makes me sick.

But in those cases, it can be easier to just not open the door.  How do you protect yourself online?

Well, there are always signs to look out for with regards an online scam.  First off, there are a couple of things they are after.

Most people expect it to be scammers only after your credit card details and for the most part it could be that.

But there are also scams that are only after you are putting in your personal details or an email address.  Once your email address in a scammers list, they will sell to everyone.  You will start to get junk mail in your inbox for all kinds of things, and that is because the scammers have sold your email address on to make a profit.

My advice is you second guess yourself before entering your email address or credit card details for anything these days.

But when it comes to making money online, there are clear signs that it will be either a low-quality product, one that is not going to fulfil their promises or ones that is an outright scam and unfortunately, they are because we typically believe their lies.

Think about why you want to earn money online? Is it because:

  • You Hate Your Job?
  • You Want to Work from Home
  • Want to Earn Easy Money
  • Want to Earn Passive Income
  • People Make it Sound Easy

Or is it because:

  • You desperately need cash, like now!
  • You are in debt
  • You are struggling to pay the bills

That is why these scammers produce products that, according to their sales pitch, will fix all of those problems.  Many of them will have a video of a luxurious beach where they guarantee that you can earn passive income within hours or days so that you could be sitting on that beach not having any money problems at all… Sound familiar?scammers always show you a snazzy beach where you could be earning money whilst drink a cocktail.

The other one is they will show you “real people” that have benefitted from these schemes to do just that, but in reality, they are actors paid to record a video stating that.  They tend to spend as little as they can, so you can see that the actors are just reading from a script.

The stark reality is that these schemes are only there to line the owners pockets, you will not find success with them.  They don’t care whether you make money or not, as long as you are lining their pockets with money by buying into their crap.

Once you know what to look for, these scams are quite easy to spot.  Here are some tips to help spot a scam:

#1 If It Sounds Too Good to Be True, It Probably Is – It is the simplest rule.

If they are promising the world and yet they do not show you how it works, then it isn’t going to work the way it does.  I have reviewed plenty of products where the sales pitch says it is a magical program that does all the work, but nowhere does it show you or tell you how the thing works.

How are you going to be making money on autopilot?  The reason they do not show you is because you would work out it isn’t going to work.  There is no scheme online that can have you earning those kind of figures within hours, I am sorry to say they are telling you exactly what you want to hear, they are missing out the details that you need to know and then all of a sudden you have handed over $17 (now, that doesn’t sound like a lot of money) but you are going to get a system that does all this magical stuff.

It is only then after you hand over your $17 that you realise that to do what it says it does, you need to spend anywhere between $100-$1000 to actually make it work like it is supposed.  Even then, you realise it will not work overnight.

#2 Too Many Positive Reviews, Even Before the Thing Has Launched – you get to notice this when you review as many programs as we do.

It is a technique called “Launch Jacking”.  The idea is the owner of a program will tell people about the launch of a product before it launches.  They can then write a review, so if you are researching a brand-new product you will still find a review.  They have even written the review before it has even launched.  The problem with their review is the fact that they have no knowledge of how the program works, so they basically just reword the sales pitch.  You can tell one of these reviews from a real one.

We haven’t even scored Wealthy Affiliate a perfect ten, and yet these reviews will give a perfect score and even offer you a load of bonuses. But when you read the review, you do not learn anything about the product.  These are not objective reviewers; they are out to earn money from promoting these so-called money-making schemes.  They offer you the bonuses, so you fall for the trap.  You end up out of pocket and the reviewer gets a commission out of it.

If you find a review where they are offering loads of bonuses, but you learn nothing about how the product works, then you will know what I am on about.

#3 Understand Timescales to Earning Money Online – these will lead into why people might think that Wealthy Affiliate is a scam or doesn’t work, and that is because you have unrealistic expectations for how long it takes to make money online.

These scams will promise you the world in a very short period of time.  But this is clearly unachievable for someone just starting out.  An expert affiliate marketer might get a website up and running and earning money relatively quickly for affiliate marketing, but that might still be a couple of months.

These schemes make so much money because people believe that you can make money within an hour of signing up to these schemes.  That is impossible. With the right training you might make money within 3 months, but there is no guarantee and it depends on a number of factors (mainly, how much work you are willing to put in).

Those would be my top 3, but you need to do proper and thorough research before you sign up for anything online, Wealthy Affiliate included.

There will always be someone out there hoping to earn money from your misfortune.  But if you follow our advice, you will find ways to earn genuine money online.

But if you are ever thinking, I am not sure whether this is right or not… then you should go with your gut feelings.  They are there for a reason, to try and protect you.

Any program where they expect you to hand over your money before learning what it is all about is questionable.  Even some legit programs do that, and I do not agree with it.

You should experience something fully before deciding on whether it is right for you.

Let’s get into why People might think Wealthy Affiliate is a scam…

Why People Think Wealthy Affiliate is a Scam?

I will admit, there is a small portion of people who are promoting Wealthy Affiliate that are not following the guidelines set by Wealthy Affiliate themselves.  They encourage people to sign up to this program and they may have set unrealistic timescales in people’s heads.  It is as easy as claiming that they are earning thousands and that you could too, but missing out the part about how long it took them to earn that money.

Jerry Huang is a super affiliate and did it within 12 months.  People automatically assume everyone can do that.  It doesn’t always work that way, but it could.  The difference would be the honesty and integrity of the person who is promoting WA.

But that doesn’t make Wealthy Affiliate a scam, it means the website owner who is promoting Wealthy Affiliate is harming the WA brand.

Like I said earlier, I have been a premium Wealthy Affiliate member for a few years now and I have learned so much from their training and it has benefitted me in many ways, as well as helping transform my wife’s wedding stationery business.  But the harsh reality is that there will always be someone that does not act as they should.

The other thing I notice about when people start blaming Wealthy Affiliate for them not making money comes down to a couple of factors.  One of them is their expectations vs. the reality of the situation and secondly, people not have that entrepreneurial mindset.

I am going to go through these points a little more to help you understand why people start blaming Wealthy Affiliate.  But more importantly, why they are not Wealthy Affiliate’s fault.

Expectations Vs. Reality

Expectations Vs. RealityLet’s get it right out there, what is your expectation for how long it will take to make money online.  Based on known scams, it is within hours.  Based on Wealthy Affiliate’s training it could be within 3 months.

But people come out straight and go, WA has said it should be within 3 months so I should be earning within 3 months.

But it does not work like that.  Affiliate Marketing is a great thing, but it depends on a number of factors, including:

  • What Niche You Have Chosen – some are more competitive than others
  • How Much Time You Have – can you spend an hour a day or 8 hours a day?
  • How Much Effort You Put In – productivity counts for a lot
  • How many posts you can write and the frequency that you publish them
  • The quality of those posts
  • Are you doing Effective Keyword Research?

There are a number of factors that could mean that in your given niche, it might be more realistic to say you could be earning money in 6 months, or even 12 months.  But this is all given to you within the Wealthy Affiliate training.  They talk about how to choose the right niche, what factors to consider and that there is no set time limit you should set yourself to be earning money.

They are also very clear that this is a business model and that you are building a business, not a money making machine.

But people do not focus on that side, they came to WA because they wanted to earn money and they (might) be able to do that within 3 months and it’s been 3 months and it hasn’t happened yet…

You have to be harshly honest with yourself before signing up to Wealthy Affiliate or any affiliate marketing training program.  You need to tell yourself that this will not make money without you putting in a lot of time and a lot of effort.  It might make you money within 3 months, it might take a year or more.

There are a lot of factors that Wealthy Affiliate help you overcome, but you need to keep going back to the fact that reality is not always as expected.  The reason for failure will not be because of Wealthy Affiliate!  The number one reason why people fail is, they give up too soon.  That’s it.  My advice is do not give yourself a deadline, if you do that will end up being your downfall.

I had a WA member ask for my help, she couldn’t understand why her website was not making money.  It was not ranking in the search engines.  What was she doing wrong?

So, I went and checked out her website.  Her content was fine, but there was a huge problem.  Her last post was over 3 months ago.  She hadn’t published any new content within the last 3 months, and she wondered why she wasn’t making any money.  I gave her the response, that she needed to create more content.  Her content was good, she just needed to create more of it.  You need to create a lot of content and keep creating it!!

But that is not the response she wanted to hear.  She asked someone else who gave her the same response that I did, you need to write more content, but again that is not what she wanted to hear. So she quit WA.

But I bet she would be someone who started blaming Wealthy Affiliate for her not making money online. Yet, she went through the same training that I did, but it wasn’t quick enough for her and she couldn’t commit to it.

That is the harsh reality, if you want to earn money online you are going to have to earn it.  This is all in the WA training.  They help with training, they help with support, but ultimately you are going to need to be the one who puts the effort in.

I read a WA post from a member who had been working on their site for about 9 months, they hadn’t earned anything yet and was about to quit… but said, no I am going to give it another few weeks and the next day they received their first sale.

You cannot put a time limit on, otherwise you could miss out on your first sale, which leads to another and another…

That kind of leads into the next point…

Employee Mindset, Not Entrepreneurial Mindset

Have you got the mindset of an employee… or an entrepreneur???entrepreneur mindset
It is the key defining factor that will lead to your success.

Let’s explain.  If you are an hourly paid employee of a company, you will work an hour and get paid for that hour.  Often, if you have to do overtime, you will also receive pay for that hour you have worked over your time.

That is how an employee thinks about pay vs. work.  Work an hour, get paid an hour.

An entrepreneur will work for free, in the early stages of setting up their business they will not be earning money.  They might even be spending money and still not earning money yet…

They work knowing that the income will come at some point further down the line.

Now, this is an alien concept to many – working for free?  But it is an important step in making money with affiliate marketing online.

Now, there are thousands of proven successful business owners on Wealthy Affiliate.  They have built their own niche websites up, they are now earning money online, they all tell you how good Wealthy Affiliate is.

They will all tell you that they were not earning any money for that first month, maybe two or three.  They will also tell you that if they walked away after the first month.  They would not be where they are today.

There is the other side of the coin, there are super affiliates within WA.  They will tell you that they targeted the harder make money online niche and they typically didn’t earn anything for the first six months.

The difference between people who succeed at Wealthy Affiliate and those that are walking away is that the people succeeding were the ones that were willing to work for free in the early stages.

If I am honest, the main reason why people fail at affiliate marketing is because they walk away from it.  They turn around and tell you that affiliate marketing doesn’t work or even that Wealthy Affiliate is a scam.  But the honest truth is the fact that they walked away before it could become successful.

Getting trusted by the search engines and getting trusted by people to click on your affiliate links takes time.  Time doesn’t mean an hour of work.

You need to remain consistent and work hard.  As website owners we need to create content regularly, it needs to be in-depth and needs to serve a purpose.

WA talks you through this as helping people, rather than selling to people.  Helping people with their purchase decisions rather than pushing a sale has a proven success rate.

Once you start earning money, you are still going to have to work on it to increase your earnings to be able to employ writers for your business, so you can start to take the foot off the gas.  But if you want to be able to earn and travel or work from home and earn enough you are going to have to commit to at least a year of effort into your business and follow the training to the letter and not give up!!

Time Available

You also have to factor in the time available to you.  I have a full-time job, so creating content including the necessary research and then writing the content has to fit in and around my job.  The WA training does not differentiate how much time you have, but you need to factor this in.  If all you can spare each week is an hour, then your progress is going to take you longer than someone who can spare 40 hours a week.

But then again, if someone wastes a lot of that 40 hours a week, their progress will be a lot slower than the person who correctly spends their time on their business.

But these are all the failings of the individual and not Wealthy Affiliate!

Wealthy Affiliate is far from a scam, it is our opinion that it is the best affiliate marketing training on the market.  But the training is only part of the picture.  The training works, it has proven success stories.  But the training cannot do the work for you.

If you write content for a week, then do nothing then you are going to see no results.  That is not the fault of affiliate marketing or the fault of the training, it is solely on you…

There is the other side where you hear of people who have started to earn money through affiliate marketing and then decide to travel the world.  But they do nothing with their website for 3 months, and then wonder why the money is dropping.

Affiliate Marketing needs to be treated as a business model, because it is a business model.  Once you do start to earn money, you need to still work hard to increase the sales, then you are probably going to hire a team to keep up with consistently providing helpful content.

If you want to become the boss of a business, then you need to become that entrepreneur who strives to achieve and will let nothing get in your way.  To do that, you are going to have to dedicate a lot of time to your business, you are going to have to invest in learning how to do this effectively, and you are going to have to do some of this without earning anything in the early stages.  But remain committed that it will earn you money (and it will, if you follow the WA training).

It will not be Wealthy Affiliate who fails you, it will be yourself.

What Does Wealthy Affiliate Offer You?

Wealthy Affiliate LogoIf you have not yet taken a look around Wealthy Affiliate, then we have put this video together that walks you through the Wealthy Affiliate dashboard.

Wealthy Affiliate started out as a keyword list provider back in 2005 but has since grown to be a one-stop shop for everything to do with affiliate marketing.  Kyle & Carson are the owners and they are accessible to the members.  Nowhere else will you find the owners of a platform dropping into the live chat to help people with their queries.

Kyle & Carson do not expect you to pay a dime to experience Wealthy Affiliate, their FREE starter membership is a full membership.  It does have some limitations, but that is because it is designed to give someone an experience of what they have to offer without fully committing to the platform.  Other platforms will expect you to pay and then ask for a refund if you are not happy.  Wealthy Affiliate give you a free membership where you can decide whether WA and affiliate marketing is right for you.

Affiliate Marketing is not for everyone, not everyone can embrace that entrepreneurial lifestyle and they appreciate that.  But instead of you paying a month and offering a refund if you are not happy, which is a pain in butt.  They offer a full membership that is free.  The trial features are actually features from the full premium membership.

The main reason they have done this is, they want you to make the decision on whether to upgrade to premium or not.  This isn’t about someone telling you to pay for this make money online product, as they will be getting a commission from you doing this.  What they want you to do is sign up for the premium membership from an informed position.  You know what you are signing up for and how it can help you.

We have covered the 4 main features from Wealthy Affiliate below to give you an insight into what is on offer.

Even though there is a premium membership within Wealthy Affiliate, you will notice that you still get quite a lot for the free starter membership.  I would also stress that the monthly price of the premium membership has not increased since 2005.  Back then, all they offered was a monthly list of good target keywords to use.  The price is still the same, and yet they know offer comprehensive training, a website hosting platform, keyword research tools and a whole lot more.  Still for the same price…

Anyone who claims Wealthy Affiliate is a scam, needs to have their head examined.

Let’s break down the key features:

Training

Wealthy Affiliate’s training uses a number of different medium’s to teach you, show you how to get started.  It uses:

  • Text-based lessons
  • Video-based lessons
  • Task-based lessons

In each lesson, you will read about what you need to do and why you need to do it in that way.  There will also be videos that break down and show you what you need to do.

It then includes some specific tasks for you to complete.

If I take the example of building a website, why tell you what to do when I can show you from step one to the last step how to do it.  Then you can go and replicate it from what you have just done.  Then I can tick of the task as complete, then move onto the next task.

There are two main courses for a starter to begin with.  We will get into the other bits of training later.

There are a number of different training modules within Wealthy Affiliate.

Online Entrepreneur Certification

There are five levels of this course with ten lessons within each level.

Online Entrepreneur Certification - Getting Started

The Free Starter Membership gains access to the first ten lessons, called Getting Started. You even gain access to a free website to be able to follow along with the training.

If you feel Wealthy Affiliate is for you, then you can access the remaining four levels plus 9 more full websites with a premium membership.

Related Post – The Key Differences Between the Free Starter Membership & a Premium Membership with Wealthy Affiliate.

The five levels of the OEC training are:

  1. Getting Started
  2. Building Your Own Traffic Producing Website
  3. Making Money
  4. Mastering Social Engagement
  5. Achieving Maximum Success Through Content Creation

Each stage has ten lessons in, with supporting training, training videos and tasks for you to complete.  Once you have completed the tasks, you can move onto the next module.  That way, you can go at your own pace.  My advice is not to rush through this, completing the training within an hour will not speed up your chances of earning money any quicker.

Take the training seriously and complete each task as Kyle sets out.  It will mean you are on the right track throughout.

Affiliate Bootcamp

This is a course set out for those who want to promote Wealthy Affiliate to others.  We have completed the affiliate bootcamp course and it will definitely help those in the MMO sector.  But it does lead to a select few who are not following the training and hence putting a sense of doubt in people’s minds about WA.

But we are very clear that we fully endorse WA and would not be where we are today without them.

The free starter membership again provides access to the first ten lessons of this training, with the remaining 6 levels (60 lessons) accessible via a premium membership.

WA Affiliate Bootcamp - Getting StartedThat is 70 lessons that cover targeting the Make Money Online niche.  Now, that is a highly competitive niche and one that should really be left until you really have the knowledge to help you succeed.  Complete beginners might not have the required knowledge to succeed in the timelines they wish to, and then they would be thinking it is WA’s fault.  But again, it would not be.

My advice is if you are just getting started with affiliate marketing, stick with the Online Entrepreneur Certification course.  Once you have a successful niche website up and running and can hire writers, you could then move onto a project to promote Wealthy Affiliate.

Then there are the other training modules that are available.  Please note, most of these are for premium members.  But WA are not here to rip you off, the price is low for what you are getting access to.

The additional training comes in the form of:

  • Live Webinars from Jay (Magistudios)
  • Member Created Training
  • Member Blogs

There is a base feeling around Wealthy Affiliate, that you need to keep on learning.  They also appreciate that members will have some value to add.  They maybe experts at some things, but there will be people who have the knowledge in certain aspects and want to be able to share that with other members.   After being a premium member for three months or more, you can create your own training courses to share on Wealthy Affiliate.  It might be text based or Video based, and you will be rewarded with credits that you could cash out or use for other features.  I learn a lot from reading other members blogs, they might only be sharing their experience from something.  Or they might be sharing some success story.  Remember, there will be new members who have never been online before and they have just created a website, how awesome is that.  They might be getting their first website ranked in Google or even getting their first sale.

Whatever it is, there is a story behind how they achieved it and the common theme is hard work and striving to achieve their goals.

Training also comes in the form of 13 classrooms that cover a number of different aspects:

  1. Getting Started
  2. Authoring & Writing Content
  3. Social Engagement & Marketing
  4. Website Development & Programming
  5. Search Engine Optimisation
  6. Keyword, Niche & Market Research
  7. Email Marketing
  8. The Wealthy Affiliate Program
  9. WA Affiliate Program
  10. Everything WordPress
  11. Video Marketing
  12. Local Marketing
  13. Pay Per Click Marketing

You will find tons of useful articles or videos in each classroom depending on what you want to learn.

But the weekly Live Webinars by Jay are probably my favourite training within Wealthy Affiliate.  Jay is a super affiliate; he has his own local marketing company and is a very successful affiliate marketer.  He runs a weekly live webinar, where you can log on live and learn from the subject he is covering.

Please note, that these weekly webinars are for PREMIUM Members only, but are well worth the subscription cost alone.

WA Webinar - Content Research Strategies

He has a way of explaining stuff that makes it very easy to follow and adopt.  It is a premium feature.

I am not trying to tell you that Wealthy Affiliate is a free platform only.  There will be a fee if you want to unlock all of these features to benefit from their full training.  They are offering you a lot to help you set up a business, but that is the most important thing you need to understand.

Affiliate Marketing is a business model, and you will be setting up an online business.  To do that, you are going to need to invest in time, you are going to need to invest some money.  No business was built without them.

The free starter membership will give you a free website, it will give you some basic training.  If you are happy to go elsewhere and do a lot of research through Google, you could still go and make a business that makes you money.

But what Wealthy Affiliate is offering you is a paid premium membership that will give you full access to everything you will need to build an online business that will (given the right time and effort) profit you.

There are no hidden costs, there are only two memberships.  Free Starter Membership & Paid Premium Membership which is $49 a month.  The only additional cost that will present itself is the cost of a website, which is about $13-15 a year.

That is all upfront and apparent as you go through the training.  But when you consider their website hosting could be compared to services that are $250 a month, you are getting all of that included with your training.

I don’t know how anyone could consider Wealthy Affiliate to be a scam.  But I suppose it depends on how it has been introduced to you.

When I compare the training to other providers, they scrape the barrow and are charging a lot more than WA.  WA training alone is worth more than the $49 a month mark, and yet to date they have not increased the price.  This is because they are trying to help people.

You could even reduce the cost by paying for an annual subscription which is $359 a year.  Basically for less than the cost of a cup of coffee every day you will have everything you need to start your own online business.

Let’s move onto to the other features WA has to offer you.

Support

It takes a lot more than training to succeed, sometimes you just need an arm around the shoulder or help understanding a part of the training.  This is achieved in a number of ways.  The first one would depend on who introduced WA to you.

John & Gem - We will help youThat is us in the picture.  Gem runs a successful wedding business and I (John) am here to help anyone get online who needs help with affiliate marketing.

I will help anyone I can, I am often in the live chat or helping anyone who has asked a question.  In my book, there is no stupid question.  People might ask a question, even though they feel silly and yet they find that a hundred people turn around and say they were thinking the same thing.

My advice is if you are sitting there, not sure what to do, ask the question.  I will respond to any of my referrals who has a question, I will respond to anyone regardless of whether they are my referral or not.

That is the main ethos around WA.  You will get support from the live chat, the training, from Jay with his webinars.  There is also the added fact that you will also gain access to the owners, Kyle & Carson.

When you log in, you will have a help centre button.  There are times you need to get technical support with your website – they have a dedicated team that will be there to help you.  A general question can be done via the live chat or in the comments section of any lesson you are in.  But you will also see you have direct access to me from your dashboard.  Just drop me a question and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

You will be overwhelmed by the response; someone will get back to you within a few minutes with an answer or point you in the right direction to the best training that will help you.

Wealthy Affiliate is an international platform, so regardless of what time zone you live in, you will get a response.

Gem and I live in the UK, so I tend to help whilst the US is still sleeping, then when it gets to my evening time, The US is highly active on the platform.

My point is, you will receive a high level of support no matter what it is related to really quickly.

But again, I see reasons why people question WA when it comes to support and that is because they are asking the wrong questions or pointing the questions at the wrong people.

I will give you an example, Kyle is superhuman, in my opinion.  The amount of time he is active on the platform is ridiculous, but people are expecting him to respond to stuff within minutes.  But they have not considered the time zone.  He is good, but he cannot be active 24 hours a day.  People need to be realistic.  Personally, I would want any of my referrals to come to me before they go to Kyle.  I am a little more accessible than Kyle is.  There are over 2 million members on Wealthy Affiliate.  He makes himself accessible to all of them, but we need to be a little more responsible ourselves.

If you ever need help, go the right person first.  If you decided to join WA after reading our review, through our link, come to us with any of your questions.  If we can help, we will, or we will point you in the right direction and get you the help you need.

Websites

Wealthy Affiliate offers a website hosting service through its SiteRubix service.  A free starter membership offers you one free subdomain website.  that means you will have a website where it has SiteRubix + the domain name you want.

If you have considered a free wix website, then it would appear the same “wix+domain name”.  You will find that the wix website will have the wix branding everywhere on your website.  The free website from WA does not do that.

Wealthy Affiliate offers a premium member, 10 full domains, all with SSL certification and a host of other premium hosting features all within that $49 a month price tag.

These websites will be a WordPress website.

WordPress website

If you are not familiar with WordPress, know that it is the most popular CMS or content management system online and is preferred by the search engines.  Which hopefully makes it easier to get your website ranked and ultimately make money.

The Website Hosting at Wealthy Affiliate is a high-quality service.  To find equivalent website hosting, you would need to join the following providers:

  • Pagely (5 websites) – $199 a month
  • WPEngine (10 websites) – $115 a month
  • Kinsta (10 websites) – $200 a month

They do not provide a training platform like Wealthy Affiliate does, they are charging what they are (quite rightly too) and yet Wealthy Affiliate gives you 10 websites, plus training, plus support, plus other tools and it is charging $49 a month.

There are a raft of features that they also offer that are all designed to support you with regards the speed of your site, the security of your site and the ease of using the website.

Kyle wrote a fantastic blog about the features, click HERE
to read it.

Tools

Jaaxy is Wealthy Affiliate’s keyword and niche research tool.  To get your website ranking and in front of your target audience, there is a need to target the right keywords.

Jaaxy - WA Keyword Research Tool

The free starter membership gives you access to this to be able do 30 keyword research terms.  I must stress, the free starter membership is to see if affiliate marketing is right for you.  It could be possible to earn money with it, but you would need to do a lot of research elsewhere, it is up to you.

Jaaxy is a standalone product but is included within the premium membership.  But that integration allows you to do unlimited keyword research.  Jaaxy is a powerful tool, and there may be a time where you pay to unlock features that improve efficiency.  But the Jaaxy lite version I have access to as a premium WA member works fine for me.  It would work fine for you too.

If you want to learn more about Jaaxy’s features, then click to read our full review HERE.

This is not an upsell, it is a fully functioning keyword and niche research tool that is included within the premium membership of Wealthy Affiliate.

For $49 a month, you get all you need to get started.

Why Wealthy Affiliate is Not a Get Rich Quick Scheme!!

Wealthy Affiliate is not a get-rich-quick-scheme

Let’s get into another reason why people might not think Wealthy Affiliate works… if we go back to that employee thinking, people will work really hard on their website for a month.  Now they will have achieved a heck of a lot in that time.  They will have built up a fully functioning website, they will have completed some content and posted it on their website.  The search engines will have ranked some of that content through the help of following the steps included in the WA training.

So, they will have achieved a lot, but they will be sitting there, and it will not have made any money.  That is not the fault of yourself, WA or the search engines.  It will be back to the point of expectations vs reality.

I am not saying this to put you off, but I am giving you a realistic idea of how long it really takes to make money with affiliate marketing.

Wealthy Affiliate is not a get-rich-quick scheme.  They cover this a lot in the first few lessons.  You will not be earning huge amounts of money straight away.  That is because affiliate marketing is not a get rich quick scheme.

Affiliate Marketing is Not a Get Rich Quick Scheme

But that doesn’t mean affiliate marketing doesn’t work, it has been proven to be a great and effective way of living the lifestyle you strive through helping others.

But I have yet to find a get-rich-quick scheme that does what it is supposed to do.

Think of it this way, you could spend the next year chasing either of these:

  1. Keep looking for a scheme that will earn you thousands by doing very little – but the end result is that you will never find one.  You will have wasted time, effort and money on stuff that never achieves any of your goals.  Ultimately you lose out…
  2. You sign up with Wealthy Affiliate, you work hard and follow their training to the letter.  You start earning a little by month 3, you then carry on working hard and by the end of the year you are hiring more writers to help you build up your income to become a truly financially free…

See the difference in thinking about it for a year.  If you are being realistic in setting daily, weekly and monthly goals you set yourself daily, weekly and monthly goalswill be surprised at what you can achieve.  But if you keep chasing the shiny magical object that will bring you immediate success (but does not exist), then you only really have yourself to blame for not achieving.

Even though Wealthy Affiliate is very clear from the onset about your goal settings, your expectations, there are still new members who sign up to WA and still think that they will earn thousands in a very quick time.

They will ask questions within the forum asking why it is not working.  Yet, when we go to help them it is because they have not given it enough time.  But this is not always what they want to hear.

This is not the fault of Wealthy Affiliate, this does not make Wealthy Affiliate a scam, it makes the member unrealistic.

Affiliate Marketing is not for anyone who is lazy, sounds harsh but it is true.  If something is worth working your butt off for, then it is worth it.  I strive to spend more time with my son, that is why I started affiliate marketing and why I strive to still put in the time and effort even when I do not particularly want to.

That does not mean that you will not find success, ultimately Wealthy Affiliate has and does bring success.

Does Wealthy Affiliate Bring Success?

what does success mean to you?

This brings me onto a really important point – what does success mean to you?

I know you are expecting me to show you loads of Wealthy Affiliate members who are making thousands a month and that immediately means they are successful.  There is an element of that, there are many successful members who are earning that kind of money and they will all tell you it is because of the WA training.

But in the early days, they were celebrating a different type of success.  If I talk about myself personally, before I signed up for Wealthy Affiliate, I had never built a website.  Didn’t even know how to do it.  So, launching my first website was a success story, for me.

Earning my first earnings was also another success story, even though it was only $3…

There are going to be so many success stories along your journey to earning your monetary goals.

The biggest piece of advice I can give is to ensure you never give up.  There will be an element of failure along the route and that it is more important to understand you will have them.  In a sense, you will learn a lot more from your failures than your successes.

It might be you pick the wrong niche but learn so much from the experience that you launch your next niche in half the time and get results a lot quicker than you might have done if you stuck with your first niche.

Here is a screen shot of some success stories that were live on Wealthy Affiliate today:

WA Success Stories 1

These are success stories that are ranking highly within WA.  3 of them are to with earnings, one is a brand-new website that has started receiving orders.  But sometimes you will it is just people celebrating the fact their website got noticed by Google.

The point is that you know that there will be goals you achieve along your journey that are steppingstones towards earning money.

It is easy to say your goal is earning money, I get that.  But how are you going to achieve that?  Well, creating helpful content is one of those steps.  So, naturally research is a step to help you know what to write about.

Completing research and creating content is a necessary goal towards making money.  Setting yourself goals will lead to these mini successes that have the desired effect of getting your website onto the first page of Google.  That leads to traffic, which will lead to earning money.

Then you might be one of those members who is saying they have quit their day job or are travelling the world whilst earning or even become one of Wealthy Affiliate’s Super Affiliates…

There are a few examples below of people who have earned a considerable amount.  They will all tell you they learned everything they needed to know from following Wealthy Affiliate’s training.

jerry-success-story-wa

wa - grace-success-storyWA - weird trick for successThere is no magic formula, only the training.  When you read the blog above, he will just tell you to work hard.

But with so many success stories, the odd few people who are calling Wealthy Affiliate a scam are because they gave up and not because of anything WA did.

Is Wealthy Affiliate for You?

Question - Is Wealthy Affiliate for You??I am hoping at this point you can see that Wealthy Affiliate is not a scam, it is NOT a bogus training platform and is something that can help the right person.

So, I suppose the last question you need to ask yourself before deciding to join Wealthy Affiliate is whether Wealthy Affiliate is for you?

Wealthy Affiliate offers step-by-step training that if you follow it correctly, will lead to you writing your own success story within Wealthy Affiliate.

But the fact is, that whilst a horse can be led to water, only the horse can decide to drink…

What I mean is, that if you decide to sign up to Wealthy Affiliate and let’s say you decide to upgrade to premium, only you will be able to produce the success story.  You will have to commit time to learning from the training.  Taking that knowledge and putting in the time and effort to research and create the content you need to do to post on your website to get the search engines to trust you enough to rank it high enough for people to click on it.

The search engines are wanting to show their users the best content there is to provide them with the help they need.  You write awesome content that helps their users and they will naturally rank you higher.  But it all takes time for this to happen.

Wealthy Affiliate is for someone who is ready to commit to the next year of writing regular content.

Wealthy Affiliate is not for someone who is going to write content for the next two weeks and then expect results.

Final Word

I don’t write any of this to put you off joining Wealthy Affiliate, in fact I am a huge fan of what Wealthy Affiliate offers.  Their training is the best I have found online, and the huge support levels make this ideal for a beginner looking to put their entrepreneurial skills to the test.  But I want to ensure that you know and understand what you are signing up for.

It is not a scam; it is not a bogus training platform.  It is the best place you could join to start your own online business.  But you need to be ready to commit to doing just that and not playing at it.  Starting a business is harder than a lot of people think.

If you do sign up with Wealthy Affiliate, then you need to commit to yourself that you are going to build that passive income or financially free future you want.  If you can commit to that, then you are definitely researching the right training provider.

If you think you are ready to build that future, you need to click on the button below and get started with the training.  You will get our full support along the way, if you click via the link below.

If you are still reading this, then you could be the right person to benefit from this awesome training.  If you join Wealthy Affiliate via the link below, you will get our personal help every step of the way.

But if you are not sure whether you can commit, then you are probably not going to find a better option…

The choice is up to you…

  1. Wealthy affiliate is never a scam, it’s 100percent legit. Wealthy affiliate is a platform that provides people with diverse ways of earning online. With wealthy affiliate you can undergo courses on how to create, build, and maintain a blog. It’s very advantegeous for bloggers. With wealthy affiliate one can request for, and earn comments needed for articles/growing website. As a matter of fact I recommend wealthy affiliate for bloggers and online marketters.

  2. Good review. I think you touched on something of vital importance to anyone considering online marketing – expectations vs. reality. As an internet marketer myself, I see this a lot. People hear stories about passive income and think all they need to do is set up a website and the passive income will start flowing. It doesn’t work like that, as you know. Like any business, you get out of it what you put into it. I am a member of Wealthy Affiliate and can confirm that it’s not a scam. It’s not a get-rich-quick scheme, either. I already had experience building and marketing websites before joining the WA community and have found the resources to be very valuable. I wish I would have found it when I first started in online marketing.

    • Hi Randy,

thanks for checking out our post.  I think people get misled by the term passive.  Passive income gets you believing there is no work involved.  When the reality is that you are going to need to put a lot of effort to get it to that point.  This is why scammers get away with it, because they show the income generated from passive income but do not show you the work involved.

WA shows you exactly what you need to do and people are not prepared to put that effort in, but still expect the results.  Honest hard work is required for any success.  Whether that be a job or an affiliate marketing business.

Get the right help and support, it becomes a lot simpler to get results!!

  3. This is a very comprehensive review with many other factors relating to affiliate marketing that is brought into the post as well. Great that you go through scams and how to recognise them, that you don’t get drawn into bogus offerings.

You are quite right that if somebody fails with Wealthy Affiliate, it is not because they or their training is a scam, but more the individual not producing enough content or ignoring keywords. Affiliate marketing is not a get rich quick scheme and I like your honesty that it takes time to make money with affiliate marketing. It depends very much on the time and effort that you put in.

thanks for checking out our blog!  Rome wasn’t built in a day and that is the same mentality for an affiliate marketing business.

Creating insightful content becomes much easier as you progress, but it can be hard work.  But it is the only way you are going to make this work.  Using the right keyword with the right content can make a huge difference to how successful you are going to be.

The training at Wealthy Affiliate will help you understand what works and what doesn’t work and put that together with dedication and you have a winning formula.

I just like to mention India was allowed last year to be included where one can enjoy free membership trial.

  6. Thank you for the thorough review. I like how much effort you did to put it in a realistic light. It seems like, what Wealthy Affiliate has to offer is a treasure. However, from what you wrote, it looks like Wealthy Affiliate just gives the opportunity to use the necessary training, community support and tools like keyword tool and so on, but the success depends on our engagement. Cause in the end it’s our own business, that we need to put work in.

Well, I’d like to hear that, not so long time ago, I almost believe one scam, checked the methods, that seemed to work so well on YT video, but it wasn’t so easy, I didn’t earn 100$ in one day, just made a fool of myself posting scammy links, where i wasn’t supposed to.

In this light, Wealthy Affiliate truly sounds like a breath of the fresh air, that I need.

    Thanks once again!

    • Hi Dario,

that is the biggest problem with spotting scams.  They are experts at marketing!! These people can make you believe anything is possible with the right sales page and the right sales talk.

If you are struggling with money, they will tell you that you will no longer need to worry about money and you will not need to lift a finger… Who doesn’t want to hear that.

But there are clear signs that this will not be the case and you will have lost out on a lot of money and be no closer to earning any money.

Whilst people do not really want to hear that they are going to have to work hard to earn money, that is how the world works.  We all know that.  WE all know that to earn more money in a normal job we need to better ourselves and progress up the ladder.

It is no different online, but the difference is you can be your own boss.  Dedicate the right time on the right training and you will make a huge difference to your earning potential!!

Thanks for sharing your honest reviews on the authenticity of Wealthy Affiliate. The question about its authenticity and the effectiveness of Wealthy Affiliate has always been on the mind of many prospects and the members but with my personal experience, I can add that the success with Wealthy Affiliate is entirely the responsibility of the individual. I can compare it with the Bible, too good to be adopted but it’s individual who succeeds to follow it.

  8. This is a great review for Wealthy Affiliate. Not only that, but you have also covered the correct mindset, the attitude towards creating a successful online business.

I work from home, not running my own business but for others. I have long been looking to start an online business and just keep pushing it off.

I understand that to start any business, we have to put in the time and lots of hard work. I will look into Wealthy Affiliate and maybe this is for me 🙂

    • HI Christine,

thanks for checking out our post.  Starting anything requires time to learn, time to focus and time to put effort in.  That goes for starting a hobby or starting a business – the beauty of affiliate marketing is you could always do both.  I remember a few year a ago I wanted to start playing golf.  But it isn’t like you could just pick up a golf club and instantly find that you are able to play it well (some people can, but I definitely couldn’t).

But I paid for some lessons, then I started playing a few rounds and go to the driving range.  It is about doing it properly.

Why would it be any different with a business – learn and put the effort in and you will see the results.

But, you say you keep putting it off – you can never achieve your goals if you never get started… sometimes you just need to start to see if it is really for you.

All the best in whatever you decide,

      John

  9. This is arguably the most thorough review I’ve ever come across, let alone one covering online money making systems. Such a great job. I feel not everyone is willing to go the lengths you have to make it as insightful as it can be.

Apart from that, I feel the point you made about the training not having the capacity to do the work for people is so crucial. It’s not a push-button-generate-income type of business (btw, those don’t exist or if for some reason something works that way, it dies out very fast).

I’ve seen so many people just not wanting to do the work necessary to get where they want to be and then blame the system, instead of taking responsibility for their inaction. This blaming or calling Wealthy Affiliate a scam (which no doubt we can find examples of across the internet) I believe is really just a coping mechanism for those people. A coping mechanism that lets them preserve their internal integrity (cause that’s what people subconsciously protect) because otherwise, they would have to feel miserable and faceless due to the lack of willingness to work as hard or learn as much to make it work.

To that end, it’s always easier to claim that the system doesn’t work because then it’s not your fault that you didn’t succeed; it’s the system. But that’s BS.

Because WA does work. All the tools and all the knowledge is there. One just has to apply him- or herself. Consistently. And he/she can make it happen.

  10. Hey man, thanks for your honest review. Me and my best friend are trying to make money online but everywhere we go we just see scams and false promises. This one seems promising because you aren’t promising anything and there’s a free trial which I might use. However I have a couple questions. How hard is it to write content and how long does it take to rank? Cheers

    • Hey Brandon,

thanks for checking out our review.  Scams work on our emotional need for money.  We are in debt or struggling to make ends meet and then you see an ad for a program that is going to magical solve all your money problems if you hand over some money… Anything that looks too good to be true is almost always a scam.

Many people say WA looks too good to be true, but the difference is that they provide you everything you need to start a business – but they are completely transparent about how much work you are going to need to do…

It is going to take time and effort to build a profitable affiliate marketing business, but no one-button system has a chance of even getting you close to it.  That is the difference.

Everyone worries about writing content, they worry their writing is not up to the required standard or maybe English isn’t their first language.  But it really doesn’t matter.  The beauty of blogging is that you are writing in a conversational way and not writing an essay that you are handing into your Professor.

Write as though you were talking to your best mate and that will make the reader more comfortable with you.  But the other factor is the more you write, the more comfortable you get writing.  I remember when I first started, I would struggle to write a blog post more than 500 words.  So my blog posts started out at 500 words, and the more I got used to writing them, the more I wrote.  I now average over 2,000 – 5,000 words depending on the subject.

If you worry about your writing, you will never blog.  You are better off writing plenty of blogs and practising them and publishing them regularly as it will help towards your second question.

Everyone asks, how long will it take for my website to rank.  But it is a hard one to answer.  Mainly because it will depend on the niche you have chosen and the keywords you are targeting.  If you chose a broad subject and target heavily competitive keywords, then boy are you going to struggle to rank.

But if you follow the training set out by Wealthy Affiliate and pick the right niche and the right low competition keywords, then you could be ranking sooner than you think.

But the training will help you identify those.  If you imagine we are one of the hardest ranking markets – the make money online sector and that it will take time to get the rankings you want.  But we have just kept going and now we have posts ranking on the first page of google – thanks to WA!!

Hope that helps, but if you have any further questions please reach out to us!!

When one don’t have money to start an expensive business, I believe this gives the small guy an opportunity to get started in online business. When I was just starting out in online business, these are the first things that I learned and I am thankful to my friends in internet marketing, they guided me through these lessons.

I’m interested in joining Wealthy Affiliate so as to use the platform in teaching more people how to start an online business especially in these trying times where a pandemic is raging across the world and people are locked in their homes. But I’d like to clarify what I’ve been hearing around IM communities that WA isn’t teaching about solo ads which I think is also a good way of getting customers. May I know if this is true, and if true, why?

    • Hi Gomer,

thanks for checking out our review. Wealthy Affiliate offers a vast number of training materials to help people getting started online.  Whilst the main core of training is aimed at beginners (who would not be ready for certain types of paid traffic yet), that doesn’t mean there isn’t training around email marketing and paid traffic.

There are classrooms dedicated to those areas.  But the other way to think about it is, if you have something to offer to the community around solo ads, after 3 months as a premium member you can creating training for members to access and receive credits for it.

But if we talk about solo ads for a minute, they can work but it requires a specific strategy targeting the right email list.  Many emails end up on a mailing list and end up annoying people to a point that they do not trust an email that comes through.  I am not saying it doesn’t work, i am just advising caution.

    • Hey Cadence,

thanks for checking out our post and for sharing your experience with Wealthy Affiliate.  Many people will label something that didn’t work for them as a scam, but the reality is that they didn’t put the time and effort into building their own success.

Wealthy Affiliate is one of the best training platforms out there for building an online business, where the support and the community is one of the highlights of this amazing place.

I am still amazed at how quickly the community reacts to any questions any member has, whether it be pointing them in the right direction or going quite in-depth and helping them resolve an issue.

There are tons of training courses out there – some are low-quality or scams, and some are comprehensive training platforms.  But it is the support for a newbie that should matter.  Getting instant responses to questions helps a beginner.  When you compare that to other platforms where you have to send an email and wait for a response, that can create tension for the member.

That is part of the reason why we recommend Wealthy Affiliate to anyone who is serious about building an online business. There is no better place to get training, tools and that all-important support.

Thanks again Cadence, hope you have a great day!

  16. Thanks for a comprehensive review of Wealthy Affiliate! I agreed with you that Wealthy Affiliate is not a scam, but a legit and highly supportive online business community dedicated to helping young and old entrepreneurs build their business and make money in a lifetime. Why would people not stop calling such legit platforms scams? It’s  because many people aren’t willing to dedicate time and effort to their business to grow and wouldn’t have the right mindset from the onset. So, they give up so quickly and quit faster than they got started.

    • Hi Israel,

thanks for checking out our post and offering your opinions too!

When you start searching the net for ways to make money online, there are so many out there claiming to be “get-rich-quick” schemes or those that tell you that you can earn money doing nothing.  There is also a misconception out there about what passive income is.

Passive income makes people think that you don’t have to do any work.  But it is the complete opposite.  You have to do a ton of work to get to that point, and then a ton of work to then grow it.  Nothing is given in life for free.

The problem is, many people don’t want to hear that.  So, when they meet a legitimate program that offers them help, but states that you will have to put effort in.  They sometimes don’t want to hear that.

Or, they have the employee mentality of working an hour, means you get an hours pay.  That isn’t how this works as an entrepreneur.

They work for free, in the realisation that they are working for their future.  The more work you put into the foundations of your business, the more likely you will see success.

Wealthy Affiliate tells you what is possible, if you put the effort in.  But I have seen many that follow the training but don’t take action.  Then they sit there and blame Wealthy Affiliate for their failures.  When it reality, they hadn’t even followed the training properly.

We can call anything that doesn’t work a scam or say it doesn’t work.  But that isn’t always the truth.

      Thanks again Israel,

  17. Wealthy Affiliate is the real deal! The best platform that you can join to learn how to make money online. The training covers all the basics of creating and scaling your online business. It is more based on affiliate marketing. So, you will learn how to create quality content to market your affiliate products and get ranked in the search engines.

The other great aspect of Wealthy Affiliate is the community.  It is a huge and active community always ready to help each other grow their business.

    Thanks

    • Hey Nana,

thanks for checking out our post and sharing your views.  We agree, Wealthy Affiliate has many examples of the successful internet marketers who all got started following their training.  It will require hard work, and that is what leads some into believing it to be a scam.

But that is simply not the case. I would stress people do need to realise how much effort they will need to put in to building their online business.  They need the mindset of an entrepreneur and not an employee, but with an amazing community who has your back, all you need to do is reach out when you feel it is getting tough.

      All the best,

  19. Great review John.

Totally agree with you on the effort part especially. Wealthy Affiliate isn’t a quick-rich scheme, it requires effort and dedication which will take months to get our first sale but after that, it’s all smooth sailing and there’s nowhere to go but up – Snowballing as they say. Highly recommended for those serious building a second income stream!

    • Hey Riaz,

thanks for checking out our blog and sharing your thoughts!

As an entrepreneur, you need to expect things to go wrong at times.  You need to learn from them, rather than just giving up.  There are times when people are so close to success, but they give up and claim that it doesn’t work, when the reality is that it needed a little more time.

      Thanks
